Well just because we knocked it down to 6 month doesn't mean we're just going to laugh at you and tell you to purchase another unit because a switch failed on it. The reason for why we limited the warranty from 1 year, to 6 months was to limit the cost as well as the paper work. At the moment we're discussing adding a repair option for the remainder of its service life (after the initial 6 months).

The main reason we will offer the repair, well some folks are going to customize thier SB. We don't want you to loose that. Keep in mind when you get a replacement piece that the polish will not match. This was a very tough decision for us to make, it is not because of failures which there were only 2 and they were both my fault.
The SB is very solid, but there are many varialbles to be considered. The unit is mobile and subject to many different environments and situations. LOL if I could figure out how the cell phone companies can warranty phones for a year I would be rich.
When a SB is sent back to me for warranty/repair it will be refurbished; new switch, atty connector, minor scratches taken out and repolished to its original luster, and any updates to internals. The original release SB with serial numbers will be under the original one year warranty.
As I said it was a very tough decision, but to ensure continued production of the SB it is a necessary evil.

Only the SB itself, no batteries or atomizers.

The Kits will be reworked as well, and will pretty much allow the consumer to 'build' their own kit. This is for those situations where the purchaser already has the charger unit, but maybe wants the batteries. Or maybe you already have more than enough atomizers, and only want the batteries or charger. Hopefully this will allow for people to purchase the kits they 'need'

Its called price of doing business and profit margin.

I own my own 'The UPS Store' and just at my location I ship an average of 8 Xbox's back for repairs per week. And the has been steady for over 14 months. Multiple that by the thousands of UPS stores across the country. I read an article on Yahoo several months ago that stated xbox was losing about a billion+ dollars a year on the boxes, but they were making 4 to 5 billion dollars on the games. It's been a long time since I read the article but this point is still there. So do they care? Probably, but it is an acceptable cost of doing business.
