I think you will be much happier with any variable voltage mod. You will pay more for a provari, due to its better construction and durability. But...you will be just as happy with the Lava. I do recommend you use 3.0 ohm carts with it, though. The Buzz is another great option, and price is the middle of the three.

I also suggest getting on The Kick bandwagon.

It is very soon to be released and works with many, perhaps most, 18650 metal tube mods with an AW 18490 IMR battery. Variable Watts is very very nice imo. It will be selling for $45.

The upgraded Provari should do great with the Dual Coils as well.

Both require the use of IMR batteries -- so that adds a bit to the cost.

Don't get a Lavatube... it changes voltages automatically on LR and dual coil cartomizers to under 4 volts... Meaning your 1.5ohm dual coils will not perform well. Provari is win for sure, but if you want an affordable VV go for the VariCool from SmokTek. Less than $80 with 2 sets of batteries and a charger! True VV unlike the Lavatube

Yes, it is true that while using LR with the LT, the voltage will drop automatically. What does the Provari do? The Lava Tube works for its intended purpose using the proper ohm carts/attys. You don't want to use LR's at high voltage anyways.

If you are sticking with LR's, a 3.7 device is sufficient.

I don't want to vape a 1.5ohm atty at 5 volts or anything, but I might want to try above 3.7 on some juices.

The ProVari will give you an error code and not fire at all. C'mon man.

The Provari Version 1 will do just that...but the new V2 Provari has upped the amperage limit to 3.5 amps...so it shouldn't be an issue with LR's any longer.

Version 1 of Provari had an amperage limit of 2.5.

Yeah, but if you put a cisco 306 lr on there and dial up 6 volts, what will happen? Same thing. It's by design. And it's a good design, imo. There aren't many batteries designed to push that many amps. That's when people start using unprotected batteries and stacking batteries and that's when vaping goes from fun to dangerous.

I went the opposite way, and went to the genesis style rebuildable attys. I've built 3 and each is set up to my liking for my different PVs. If I don't like the way it's hitting, or it burns out, it takes me less than 5 mins or so to swap it out. The one I have on my little 3.7v mechanical on IMRs runs a 3 wire braided coil and hits harder than any of my VV mods ever did at full tilt, and I've been running it heavy everyday for over a month now. The mod doesn't matter if you can customize the atty to fit, you just find a PV you like and stick with it. Just my
