I'm using 1000mah eGo/Joyetech batts that allow me to let the freshly charged battery sit for hours after a charge before using. There was a time when I'd swap a used battery with the one that came off the charger just to keep the voltage up on the vape. I don't do that anymore. Knowledge is power and safety.

Even carbon zinc and alkaline batts can be dangerous in direct short mode. I've told the story here about one of my fellow tech reps tossing a new 9v voltmeter battery into his tool bag after changing one out of a pack of two. We were servicing some computer room equipment at the time. I smelled something and turned around to see smoke coming out of his tool bag. It was the fresh 9v battery that had shorted when pressed against a tool. He grabbed it and quickly dropped it after creating an inch long blister on his thumb and finger! If we had walked out of the room for a few minutes, I'm confident that a tool bag fire could have resulted. All from a tiny 9v alkaline cell. They should be shipped with the little plastic snap on protectors.

My main issue with Liposack is that you can't see the LED so you don't know when charging is complete without opening the sack. Maybe it's impossible to make fireproof bags that are translucent. You'd have to open the bag or time the charge. Opening the bag is a hassle and timing is difficult because we don't vape our batteries to cutoff.

It's a guess when 4.2v is reached and you can't run voltmeter leads into the bag and get a reading while charging is going on. You'd just read the charging voltage unless you could set the meter to read minimum voltage that only occurs during the periodic switch to voltage test. Most meters that have a min/max recording setting that lets you read peaks on a waveform or pulsating logic voltage are expensive and beyond the reasonable range of most vapers. Not everyone owns a Fluke meter.

With my mods I tend to vape them down to cutout, or close, and my new charger takes about 3 hours for a full charge, so I'm just going to an external timer set for 3 hour cutoff. The charger only outputs 0.1 mA after nominal completion, so I'm not worried about overcharge, especially with power cutout at 3 hours. After power cutoff the charger only drains the battery at a 0.5 mA rate, so again no biggie.

Start the timer, batteries go in the charger, charger goes in the bag.

My father-in-law, who lives in a Del Webb retirement community, was telling me about two recent instances where the battery in a golf cart in someone's garage exploded and started a fire. Googling about golf cart battery explosions indicates that those were not isolated instances.

I have an Ego clone which vented around the button a while ago. Brand new and still in the packaging. It wasn't being charged and it scorched the box it was in. I don't have the box but I still have the ego if anybody is interested.

First thing I have to ask is was an atomizer attached to the battery, and second was the switch somehow pressed by the packaging?

I am a know it all and an accomplished internet shopper. I can find the cheapest deals on batteries. Even Dudley Dooright can figure how to put a couple of batteries in a mod. Everyone says 6 volts gives more TH, more vapor, and is the way to go. I don't want to start out with training wheels. I want something that will impress my friends.
Do they sell an e-cig mod that is the same color as my big pick-up truck?

Bypass the learning curve, go for the big guns

    Yup, that'll work
