Default boiling point VG vs PG

I noticed my atomizers getting hotter when using VG. PG boiling point is 188.2 celsius, VG bp is 290 celsius. Anyone notice the hotter burn with VG? Any known atomizer life consequences that anyone knows about? This has probably been discussed. I apologize if it is redundant.

Yes indeed you are right. VG becomes toxic at 280C too, but ecigs dont get that hot - we think!

*wonders How much heat is produced with 6v running thru* I know there was a thread on this a good time ago...

It would be excellent to have a sticky of measured atomizer temperatures. We know that some models run a lot hotter than others, why dont suppliers spec their units with this info? Something like 3 second drag this temp, 6 second drag this temp etc. No doubt it's affected by the rest time between drags too.

Part of the higher temp using VG will be taking a bigger drag/pressing the manual button longer to get VG to vaporize, and partly the consistency of juice will effect temperature due to the lower flow rate and hence lower cooling effect.

Damn I can't find it, when pg reaches a certain temp, it can be rather poisonous. Kate should be able to re-call the thread.

I am allergic to PG and vape VG only.. I have become a little concerned about vaping VG in the new PS Prodigy because of the manual switch and the level of heat. Maybe I should ask Cash to check the heat temp after 3 or 4 sec so I can make sure I don't poison myself???

Heres a step closer, after the rant, that is. "rlorange
    http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...ycerine-6.html

    Final Chemistry post:

The concern for VG is that when heated above 280degrees Celsius is cemically converts to the HIGHLY toxic acrolein. Acrolein is one of the major toxic products found in cigarette smoke.

I would be VERY concerned about this because this temperature 280 degrees is LOWER than Glycerols boiling point of 290 degrees Celsius! If you are making VG vapour then you are probably either making or close to making toxic acrolein in the process.

    Sounds like a plan Spikey

There's a thread about acrolein here, it might be of interest - Decomposition of VG to acrolein
