Throat hit... the attomizer...
Ok, been working on all factors of throat hit.... more nic, less nic, more flavor, less flavor, more PG, more VG.... only one thing comes up consistent.... the functioning status of the attomizer....
When I hit the button and the atty glows bright red very quickly I will get better throat hit. It the atty sizzles, but does not get red hot, I'll get almost not throat hit. This is regardless of nic levels, and happens on all 3 of my 510 attomizers. My 0 nic rasberry will hit harger than my 36mg Marlboro when it has a red hot clean atty to hit off of.
The atty temp is varying from hit to hit, and varying in time of how long it takes to get to temp. The more air you pull over it, the hotter it will get (so hitting it harder (more draw)) will make up for throat hit sometimes by burning the atty more fully, not because of vapor density itself. Nicotine vapors will combust at 95 °F (Wikipedia), thus a hotter burning atty will reach out further and burn off more nicotine allowing for more hit. (same goes for flavor also).
You want good throat hit, keep your atty in tip top shape. Start there
My opinions only, hope they may help!

Well, I try to take care of them...but I've destroyed a few. That's why I wait until production drops off a lot before I clean them....but I will remember what you said.

The ice maker cleaning fluid mentioned by Sun Vapor in another thread seems to do a great job (I have not got any yet though).

Yesterday I was tempted to post a new thread that I came to the exact same conclusion. I tested two atties (M402, golden) which should be technically identical. But with one I never had the same throat hit as with the other one. I also fiddled around like yourself with different nic levels, fresh carts etc.
Then I tested both with the same battery, same cartridge, same juice. One has a throat hit almost like my old Gitanes sans filtre and the other one like some 0.1 mg super lights. Also in terms of flavour there's a big difference. The amount of vapour is about the same. Strangely enough I don't notice much difference in temperature though.

Same principal lies behind flooding the atty from what I have studied. If using a cart mod, like the LPT (I use the blue foam), it is likely to give off too much juice at times. Too much juice will actually lower the burning temp of the atty. The flavor appears to burn off incompletely and will hit you really strong in the sinuses. From what I gather, almost all variables concerning flavor, throat hit, and even vapor, are contributed too mostly by the attomizers temperature and the length of time required to GET to temperature (hence the suggested primer hit on an auto battery). The actual content of the juice comes second (ie VG giving more vapor than PG, etc.). I can vape straight distilled water and get different effects when the atty is not consistent.

Unless they are in the GG at 6 volts then they really glow!!!
Blow on it while it dry burns, should glow. If not, either A. there is too much residue build-up. B. Lowered voltage C. Not the best quality attomizer.
They hit good compared to what? Might it be possible the hit could be much better? Do you ever get an over-whelming flavor hit that kind of hits your sinus cavity (like the top of your nose/eye area)?
