Where are the holes in the RN4072 atomizer?

RN 4 holes actually come standard with 2 (Actually 1, and they count the 2nd as the battery feed hole), and the other 2 are actually under the lip of the brass fitting. DSE801 holes are easily 2-3 times the size of RN's. RN holes are slits ... not really holes per say ...

It really doesn't make that much sense... He's saying the 4 holes consist of the battery hole and 2 behind the brass fitting, but that still leaves one unaccounted for.

Anyway thanks Misty. The reason I wanted to know was that I tried the hole-covering method with my 401 to see if it would produce thicker vapor, and it worked nicely, so I wanted to try the same thing with my RN4072, but I don't know where the heck to cover. So far it seems they're all hidden. Oh well.

You can't actually see them.

On the atomizer when you screw the thing onto a battery, there is a lip that goes over the battery (as opposed to on a mini or super mini, there's no lip). The air intake for the atomizer, well 4 of them actually, hence 4 hole, are tucked inside this lip. So you can't actually see the four holes.

IMO this is one of the best parts about the rn4072 design, because if liquid leaks from the battery end it leaks on the outside of the battery, where it's mostly harmless and easy to clean off. On mini's or super-mini's that liquid that leaks would go either onto the center part of the battery connector (bad) or directly into the pressure switch for the battery (very bad).

This, combined with what i assume are more robust heating coils inside the atomizer, contribute to more durability than a mini design.

Or, at least this is something i am pretty sure of from smoking and maintaining the rn4072. I have a usb passthrough for it and i was very worried about liquid leaking from air intakes into the pressure switch on the passthrough. Check it out and tell me what you think.

do you know a model of super mini that has a 4 hole atomiser? on another thread tonight, john from intellicig has posted that the new black EVO now comes with a 4 hole atomiser. any ideas?

Totally agree, Equazcion.. never adds up to 4 and even the 2nd hole- battery hole is stretching it a bit . But Steve's RN4072 does vape beautifully either way..

As far as covering some holes on a 4 hole atomizer (making it a 2 hole )..it maybe just makes it a harder draw rather than increase vapor..
Some people don't like the easy draw of 4-holes and return to 2-hole to get back that resistance again. or if they have a tendency to burn atomizers, the resistance helps in some way

I know on a mini , covering that 1 hole as you start to vape & then releasing , will increase vapor but also lower the lifespan of the atomizer (Apostle 51 is explaining that on another thread at the moment..)

This is a pic of a two hole Janty atomiser. They changed to two from four and I can't tell a difference. I think models vary regarding two or four holes being different.

Yes Lu, that's a classic/penstyle size. I think I recall you saying you have a classic with manual switch from David Yang, if so, do the holes look like the Janty?

I've just had a look at an old RN4072 atomiser I have and can only find one slit-like hole at the rim.

My yentl has 4 holes, but is bigger than an EVO or a 401. I still have not received my EVO, but i get that general impression. It's somewhere between a mini and super mini size, but has closer to a super mini construction (i.e. steel wool sticks out of the atomizer, cart goes around the atomizer w/ sunken polyester inside the cart, kind you have to push up, you know what i mean). Other than that, no. I'm sure they just ordered a different part (with 4 holes) and used that instead.

The reason there are more holes/less holes/ bigger or smaller holes is because of air intake. They are probably using a 4 hole design because people complain about the draw on the EVO being too hard. More holes makes the draw easier but creates less vapor, i think.

The RN4072 holes (or should I say slits) are extremely difficult to perceive with the eye.

However, if you take a small pin and drag it along the edge where the black and gold meet - you'll easily be able to feel the slits.
