I just blew-out "4" brand new 801 attys!! What is going on????
Ok so, My 801 atty all of a sudden just died on me so i went to grab a BRAND NEW 801 atty. I put 2-3 drops of juice on it to prime it ( 2-3 drops, took a big puff but didnt inhale it and blew it out ) ok, did that and then went to go hit it and NOTHING! I got that 1st prime hit and that was all! No pop, No sizzle, NADDA!
Freshly charged batteries 2 3.0v cr123a ( one device is running at 5 volts and the other at 6 volts )
So i check the adapter, Checked everything! Everything is clean and looks good. So i first did this on my SB at 6 volts and nadda, ok so i grab another BRAND NEW 801, screw it on, same deal, 2-3 drops, prime puff was good and then when i go to take a puff on the 2nd time around DEAD!!! AGHHHHHHH!!!!!
So i grab my Prodigy V2 switch the batteries out...tried both attys on the V2 and same deal, there dead...
Ok, so i grab a 3rd BRAND NEW 801! This time, i prime it and put it on my V2, I prime puff, it works, then i go for the 2nd puff and NOTHING!!!!!!!
Not a pop, not a sizzle, NOTHING! just flat out dead!
What is going on here? i went thru 4 attys already! and i only have one left!
I tried my 510 attys on both devices and the 510 is working fine.
On the SB i use a 510-801 fitting and on the V2 i just use the standard V2 801 adapter...
What is going on? i just lost 40.00 within 5 mins!!!!

I usually put 4 or 5 drops in let it sit a minute or two. Prime it then 2 or 3 more drops and I'm good to go. Haven't lost an 801 yet. Probably overkill but better safe then sorry.

I don't have a high volt mod (yet), but I've been wondering. I know when I first use a brand new 510 atty, it runs like the devil for a couple of hours, then starts to mellow out. Maybe the higher voltage is too much for a pristine atty? Maybe they should be broken in first at 3.7V?
Totally guessing here.

That's been happening to my sister with 801s on her Chuck at 6 volts for a couple months now and we can't figure it out. She is spending close to 100 dollars a month on attys!

Contact where you got the attys from, see if they might of got a bad lot of attys. They might know of it, they might not. But they might replace them.

I had some issues with atty's not screwing down properly and no current was flowing to the coil...remember? some people were using a staple in the batt to extend the reach of the power port....I put a dab of solder on the power port to build it up

My sister has bought attys from 6 or 7 different places. I have bought attys from the same places and mine are fine.
