Vicks - basically, yes that's right. After the washing, blow out. Doesn't need to be completely dry before use. Just drip a few drops of juice and start vaping - but it will take a few minutes for the water to all disappear and the vape become normal. If you have time, by all means let it dry out completely before beginning to vape.

Adik Ted - no,no; don't attempt any filing! The metal bridge wick is delicate and brittle, easily broken.

I have found the post that that got the whole acid-bath ball rolling, Terraphon's pepsi/coke experiment: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...ring-nope.html

I am currently doing a little test of which is the stronger acid, coke or vinegar. Not an ideal test as I'm using old copper coins rather than atomisers caked in deposits, but interesting nonetheless. So far the coins have been in 15 minutes and the vinegar bath shows more progress. There could be something about phosphoric acid that makes it particularly good for working on atomiser deposits, or not. If not, vinegar seems the stronger acid though either could do the trick it seems.

Yesterday I soaked 3 atomisers in 3 parts water (boiling when put in) to 1 part vinegar for an hour. Burnt taste still there. Repeated the dose. Vaped each of them for 2 minutes. Dipped in juice and left overnight. This morning I tried one of them dipping in 36 mg TW menthol. It was reasonable for about 3 lots of dipping and vaping then the burnt taste returned with a vengeance. All of the atomiser bridges look clear (as in silver in colour with no black bits).

Strange, even though I didn't even rinse the atomiser after neat vinegar, no burnt taste at all, just good vaping. But it does of course make sense to rinse first and blow out excess water before vaping.

It is just about possible to see the wire coil behind the metal wick bridge with a strong light source and magnifying glass. But it is after vaping for a few minutes that the black deposits disappear.

Kin--I use a Jeweler's magnifying eye piece 10x --You can get a very good look at that coil with the atomizer still assembled. You can get a very good look under a strong light. Cost is about 3 dollars at Staples---Sun

One hour later: old coin in vinegar (Sarsons) almost completely salmon pink clean now. Coke (Coca Cola, european) soaked coin improved but much less cleaned. I took care to use 2 coins with very similar deposits of oxide and general grime on them. I didnt wash in soap first and used equal amounts of liquid and the same size containers (screw caps from wine bottles).

Sun - good tip!. The magnifier i have is a huge 10cm diameter one but still need strong light.

ps: the coke was a little flat, but i don't think that would effect the result on the coins, but the gas might help where the coke can get in among a deposit.

Never new anything about the coil until reading those last few posts Sun. I don't have a magnifying glass but I can't see any black stuff in the hole under the bridge on any of them.

If you have any kind of magnifiying glass, you should be able to see that coil--it is little and is the culprit ( or at least we think to date that it is the cuprit)---Thanks---Sun
