Good news
Still looking ungunked ?
Hi Kinaba..no I have been vaping merrily away all day with nothing much to say.....everything has been working great....wow I really recommend turning one of those cold heat soldering Irons into an e-cig......nearly 2 days before needing to recharge the batteries and it fit's so nicely into the hand and it's just such an easy thing to convert. ..for £8 I think I will get another one..(although it doesn't come with the batteries).

Perhaps we need a video of 'atomization in action',
to see what's really happening.
I still think the coil only provides the heat,
& the wick provides the local e-liquid reservoiur/buffer
that gets vapourised (at least to some wick depth).
Multi-strand, well 3 strands in parallel to be precise,
with the 0.068mm tungsten anyway.
Glad your getting longer life now Pete,
& yes that's also (hopefully) part of the idea.
There'd be no wick volume that couldn't be heated
hard to burn-clean any gunk to ash, then agitation
(by whatever means) to loosen & remove the ash.

Exo - just worry about the thinness - more easily snapped.
A toaster's nichrome runs red-hot happily for ages; but that is considerably thicker.
Then again a tungsten lightbulb runs white hot, although in an inert gas.

I don't want this coil to burn out for a long time yet but it's going to be interesting to take it apart and have a look at it when it does....the only problem with the burn is that I have to give it a couple of vapes (that I don't inhale because it tastes foul) and then give it a blow out onto a tissue.....the juice on the tissue is a really dirty brown when I do that ... so it shows it is doing some cleaning.

Exo rather than doing the strands in parallel .do you think there might be any merit in sort of braiding the wire?
-
Pete, I'm hesitant to ask .... did you ever get any H2O2 ?
it'll remove/dislodge (a lot of) the ash & after a water rinse
you'd no be wasting precious juice.
Edit:
hmmm, braiding - it'll might end up like that,
but I don't know yet.
But it'd be the same thing, if the wires in the braids were insulated from each other,
due to the oxide layer, braiding may make it physically stronger tho.

Lol ....I still haven't been into town .....I really hate going into Scarborough...the last time I went I was ten mins late back to my car and got a parking fine. It was an expensive bit of shopping. .....I really want to try the H202 because it's such a safe cleaner and I know it works from all your pics.

Interesting. If done often enough, this method might in itself be sufficient at removing the ash. If once a day were frequent enough (might well be), would be less hassle.

tbh, & not wishing to sound too worrying,
that method of mouthing the foul juice+ash (even if not inhaling)
sounds like a good way to get a concentrated dose of the naff'ness
of the gunk (solder metals n'all).
Anyway, I'm off to zzz land, if I want to feel fresh & invigourated
for another fascinating day in front of the PC at work fun-land.
