Only an opinion.... I would think that an estimate of the temp would be good enough in this instance. We could monitor the temperature to the .001 degree F, but would it be cost effective? We could connect these things to a computer, ie... PIC microcontroller, or something similar but who would pay that kind of money when the things still burn out? I have to agree with Kate and would like to eliminate the reason that these things go to hell. I was thinking along the lines of a temp. circuit that would stop a 'runaway' with the heat... It is simple to use the thermistor resistance to shutoff the current at a predetermined level (actually using a mosfet and not a FET) - and there are only 3 or parts to that.
I think I will continue to try to remove the root cause of the destroyed atomizers along another direction and leave the temp control for a later date.
