Default Why no Repairable Cartos (yet)?

i was just curious why no one has made a repairable cartomizer that would work with a MAP tank or the like>? I think tanks suck just because I do not like the type of cartos used.. I think it would be sweet to have a thick stainless steel perma-Carto with replaceable fillings so that you can repair the carto to use in tanks... any ideas?

If your heart is really set on it there are several variations for repaiable cartos out there. This is one I liked and still use some principles from, however I've really not been that interested in the tank carto combo: Atomizer / Cartomizer for life.... Personally, I'd rather have a tank above or below, but not around the middle.

IF you dont think you are able to do as suggested by asdaq, try the repairable CE2 method.

    I use a repairable CE2 in my M.A.P. Tank(designed for CE2's not cartos)

This is just what i have, but browsing the forums you can find similar.

OR instead of cutting off the CE2 Tube, just cut slits down the side of the tube and use a tank designed for cartos.
(there are a few threads on ECF that cover this)

OR leave the tube intact, and use the CE2 as intended.

    happy modding!

I don't see any reason why you couldn't make a repairable carto, but it would be relatively pointless. You would have to extract the filler and white coil wrap material from used or new cartos.

The filler is available everywhere and the diaper is just 100% cotton cloth, an old many times washed 100% cotton handkerchief cut in little rectangles works great. If you are a dripper, have you tried the Bonut
    Stainless Steel Doughnuts for dripping

I was just thinking about this today.

If you started with one of the clear filler-style cartos, the tube should come off easily. Remove filler and diapers, re-coil. And why not use some silica wicking for the 'diapers'; actually why not use some of the silica wicking for the filler? You can get silica 'rope' at McMaster-Carr very cheaply. Just put a plug of polyfil around the top for any concerns with the silica fibers.

I've read the clear EMDCC is fully repairable.

edit: should've read the topic more thoroughly, my bad.

Screw a cartomizer onto a battery, bend the carto tube back and forth until it comes off (It's not as solid as you might think) unwrap the filler and you'll see the coil(s). They're wrapped in a heavy-ish duty white material (No clue what it is) and the coils are sitting in relatively strange configuration. Solder points are very easy to see, though.
