Default cool soldering iron in place of atty?

Now that I have your attention, I figured why not a battery operated soldering iron 15 watts or less and make it into a battery atty combo? Deadcat2 pointed me here saying there was a video on it being done.

I know I can do it, but I might as well look at the other guys' hard work first...I might pick up a pointer or three.

So, where is that video exactly?

    Thanks!

It won't let me put the link since I don't have enough posts yet although I don't see why not since it's actually to this site but if you add that to the end of the main forum URL it should give you what you want.

It's a bad idea to really smoke on those tips because of what they are made of. Now if you made a glass tip that went on top of it then it would be much better.

How about using stainless steel foil to wrap the tip of the iron?
I have a Weller BP645 (nice ready-to-use batt. mod), and the info that I could find regarding the composition of the tip said that it was copper around a nichrome core, electroplated with iron. Not sure what the rest of the tip body is made of, so when heated who knows what is outgassed.
Been pondering the StSteel foil for awhile, if it worked then a virtually indestructable atty could be born.
Glass for the tip is a lovely idea. StSteel foil possibly more accessible?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

soooo reminds me of the cantina scene in star wars after obi wan sabers that creatures arm off...there is that dude with a long thing and tube or cord in his mouth....lol

But very crazy idea nonetheless....is the soldering iron itself contacting the juice or it's heating the atty which is contacting the juice?
