Default My Light Bulb Atomizer E-Pipe

I hope that this idea inspires refinement and further experimentation...
In my work, I often use 12 volt bi-pin mini halogen bulbs (usually 30-50 watts). They are known for becoming very hot, almost instantly (they are also dim-able). As an experiment, I have rigged one of the fifty watters, to a 12v power supply... with an adequate trigger switch. Then, I just propped the bulb inside the bowl of one of my old tobacco pipes. I dripped five or six drops of smoke juice in the bowl, pressed on the switch, and inhaled on the stem.... Within seconds, I got clouds, and clouds of amazing vapor (I did make sure to keep my eyeglasses on, on the chance that the bulb might pop... It didn't).
I'd love to see this idea refined. Maybe someone knows of a smaller light bulb that burns as hot, on less voltage? Maybe someone can design a way to wick the juice, instead of dripping? Are there safety hazards here that I am unaware of?

Themain hazard is if the bulb pops - you really don't want to inhale the vapors that will come out of it, even as tiny as it is wouldn't be pleasant or good for you, and glass fragments are never good, no matter how small.

Great idea, but definitely does need refinement!

    Take care,
    - Hap

The bulb might contain mercury. I'd investigate a little further before vaping. Don't want to inhale any Hg

That and tungsten...I'd think a few more times before I did that again.

Halogen is a type of incandescent lamp. It has a tungsten filament just like a regular incandescent that you may use in your home, however the bulb is filled with halogen gas. When an incandescent lamp (one which produces light by heating a tungsten filament) operates, tungsten from the filament is evaporated into the gas of the bulb and deposited on the glass wall. The bulb "burns out" when enough tungsten has evaporated from the filament so that electricity can no longer be conducted across it. The halogen gas in a halogen lamp carries the evaporated tungsten particles back to the filament and re-deposits them. This gives the lamp a longer life than regular A-line incandescent lamps and provides for a cleaner bulb wall for light to shine through.

I am interested to know which bulb you used. Research on the halogen revealed that the bulbs are normally made with a quartz glass, and are made to withstand high heat. I am thinking you may be on to a long lasting atty here.... the halogen gas actually deposits back onto the tungsten and helps to prolong the age of the bulb. they produce more heat than normal bulbs, and last longer,,,,, I wonder......

    Hi all!!
I was thinking of doing this with a e-pipe or e-cigar. My version differs by making my own vacume tube with just a heater element from say the nichrome wire from a space heater??
have it shaped like a donut that would sit on top of a small oil lamp so the donut addy would heat the wick to produce vapor?? the whole affair could be made out of glass cigar tubes cut then sectioned together the covered in brown craft paper to look like one of the ryuan e-cigars? What do you guys think? -Tom

Please check my ideas out at eurika ...thread.
The atty was giving me probs but, this sounds promising. Maybe i could drip a couple of mml every few drags .....

i am 99.9% sure that these mini halogen bulbs will not explode even when getting wet after being super hot because i have had one hanging out shining on my license plate for a while because my little thing got busted off when i was hooking up a trailer that being said the bulb has not broken once and the only ones i have seen that busted were from when i had a power surge when my alternator went kapooey and even they iddnt even "shatter" they just ended up with cracks through it (as though when you just tap an egg on the counter) which did make them a little more brittle but with gloves on it was still difficult to break them when iwas taking them out b/c i thought i was gonna have to get some tiny needle nose pliers to get them out... that being said the chances (from what i have seen of them) of getting pieces of glass in your mouth would be slim to none,
im gonna grab a couple when i go to work i have a broken atty ima give this a try on and ima look at radioshack and see what mini halogens they have maybe for a double a flash light or something
