This has been good information and may have me looking at a different type just for a mod but I still am not quite sure of what that leaves for selection...Do they make a 901 w/o a whistle tip? My husband would be fine w/ a whistle tip because of his occassional black & mild habit... he is fine w/ it- For me it is just ... different...
I like the 401 cart because I can get every drop of juice when I vape- I use Fluval right now but would try that "pen spring" method if I needed another method... It looks like it is most effective.
I am also partial to the 401 atty because it is exposed, I can see into it (within limits) if there is a problem... and if wanting to reprime, I can w/o having to worry that it will fall to the battery area or flood the atty...
I appreciate all the insight on this-
Wench, the way you described that is great and now, it sounds as though it could be done... w/ the holes drilled for air vents, seems they could drill holes for airflow...
Are the 3.7 v mods out there available for use w/ a protected battery? (and what makes it protected?)
Thx dennis- I will check on that- (the chuck is great for design features to add but a bit "fat" though) LOL- I do like that you can have any design you want put on it...

Also keep in mind.. we can always do adapters The adapters seem to work great on the mods so just because one isn't necessarily a 401, you can still use the 401 atty and it be just fine.
( I use my mods even though 2 are 510's and 1 is a 801) Houdini has pics of how he did his that helped me make one.
I think quite a few of the mod's out now use protected batteries. Protected means there is a chip (or a circuit thingy) built in to keep it from over/under discharging.
There are 901 carts that are round , I've seen them at a few suppliers, usually in the tan color.

There is a larger cart for the 401 that takes .4ml of juice. It's not widely available, but it is out there.
My 401 is glued to my hand from the minute I wake up, until I go to sleep. I vape, like I used to smoke, unless I'm using 36mg liquid.
The main reason I haven't bought a mod, is because there is no 401 adapter.

Wench, is an adapter already available for a 401? Or you are just speaking of Houdini's that he made?
Val, that is the reason for my post... I would have a few if the 401 was an option... I am getting the ST2 when it's ready but there are a couple others I am really interested in and feel left out of the loop when production came about...
Also, I don't think the XL cart for the 401 will be something I use... My husband's Sidesho has a cart exactly like it... only it is white and instead of the stem piece on the bottom of the cart, the mouthpiece has little notch's in it so it sits up from the end of the mouthpiece- everything else is exactly the same... never can get all the juice and quite frequent leakage occurs... I am not excited about the new cart because of this... If they were to just make the original a bit wider would work by taking off the "nibs" surrounding the outside...

Altsmoke will have a ready made one this week 510-->401 : D woot
There evidently is one coming from SLB for the 905 that will be 901-->401 so there will be 2 choices of ready made adapters.
If your industrious you can make one. I managed to make one by using 2 510 atty's. I picked up a el cheappo soldering iron at Lowes and it wasn't bad at all to do.. ugly but it works until I get that one from Altsmoke lmao

No, in addition to the inner cart being shaped differently, the mouthpiece is actually longer. I saw a comparison picture at Eastmall.

So cool Wench! Thx- I will keep watch...
The frustrating thing is- I have a dremel, a torch and a couple soldering irons- - I am not electronically inclined with these e-cig things though... I guess I can say, I haven't tried it- but I'd rather have something "manufactured"- if something happens I could probably disect it but would really not be sure what I was looking at... LOL

Yeah, I'm gonna have to disagree here.
Former smoker of almost 2 packs a day.
I have bought, to date, an RN4072, a 901, an m401 and a Prodigy v.1.
The only one that still sees any use is the m104
