On the other hand, even with the inline battery type, there may be increased risk: Knowing that I will not have to swap the battery every hour or two, I tend to use it CONSTANTLY while at the computer. Each burning of the atty is probably cutting its life (much as a light bulb that is on more often).

One rule that I do follow religiously though is that I never hold the button down for more than 5 seconds (passthrough or not), and if I feel the atty getting pretty warm from frequent use, I put it down for 10 minutes.

Good luck, and if/when you get one, I think you will like it!
Good tip, thanks. I have a pretty constant habit when I think that I am vaping a lot that I move my finger to my atty to see how hot it is. If I think that it's too hot, I'll try to put it down for a few minutes. Looks like that habit will come in handy if I get a passthrough.

On the topic of 510 batteries, I have a Titan from TW with a manual batt. Here's what happens to me typically: First pull (~4-5 seconds), I get a good vape. Second pull the blue LED fades in about 2-3 seconds and I get a weak vape. Third pull and the blue LED fades almost instantly, no vape. If I remove the atty and press the button the LED remains lit... now my atty isn't really hot at this point, I have liquid and this has happened with different attys. If I wait maybe 5 mins I can repeat that cycle.

I can survive ok when I go mobile but I really do rely on my passthrough, in fact if I know I'm going to be out and about for a long time I'll take it with me since it holds a charge but it's kind of clunky to be vaping on that while mobile. Is my battery jacked up? (I only have 1 battery right now)
i thought i was the only one! after the same thing happened to me i searched for info on this and i guess maybe we just have bad batteries or they have lived their life and it time for new ones?

cmdrmaxwell, my battery is new, they shouldn't go out that fast - how old is yours? I think the charging of the battery might be the issue. The kit I received included the PCC and the charging accessories for that but not one to directly charge the battery. The PCC cuts off charging when it detects a certain voltage from the battery. I'm guessing that if I plugged this battery into a charger instead of the PCC and gave it a good 12 hours it would perform properly...

I was thinking about ordering a charger and extra batteries to test my theory but I ordered a Prodigy (510) instead so I can just use the passthrough at home and have something more reliable on the go...

my battery is only a month old but it only got 3 weeks of use cuz i got a 401. now after giving the 510 some use i notice that only one battery sucks. the other works just fine and no matter what i use to charge it, it still only gets 3 hits and its done! i guess i just thought that the battery wouldnt light up at all when it died, guess not! i just ordered a replacement battery and threw in the PT's for my 510 and 401!
