    Default 901 battery question

I've had my 901 for about a week. I religiously drain my atomizers at night and occasionally gently blow them out. I have two batteries. I charged them both for 8 hours before using them. One works perfectly and the other, over the last two days has started to act up. I charge them for two hours when they start to to blink. When attached to either atty (I have two that I rotate) I have to suck really hard for the battery to work at all and then I get hardly any vapor. When I suck on just the end of the battery it lights up, so I know that battery isn't dead. I am careful not to screw the battery into the atomizer or the charger too tightly. Is it just a bad battery or is there something I can do to get it working again? The other battery I suck lightly and it works like a charm.

    TIA
    Joanna

*Update* The bad battery has a really weird metallic taste any time I do get vapor out of it. I tried same atty and cart on my PT and other battery and no weird taste.

    Hi Joanna,

I think your 901 battery is toast. I would try to contact your supplier and get a warranty replacement. That burning taste you describe can't be good for you.

The automatic switch on 901 batteries is rather poorly designed and frequently fails.
Of my original three 901 batteries, that I've had for about 11 weeks now, all of them have had the auto switch fail. In comparison, manual batteries seem to be pretty trouble free.

You may want to try to clean the contacts.

Take a clean cloth (shirt works fine for dirtballs like me)
Rub and twist the battery end that connects with the atomizer.
The slightest dirt or sumpin can make the batt not supply power.
Of course, you will not get vapor, and the vapor you are getting may be
from the other batt when testing.
The bad flavor may be from the new atoms and not vaporizing.

Try this, if it doesnt work, try tapping the batt on a hard surface.
If the bad flavor does not go away, then yes the batt is bad.

Can't start a new thread yet, but this looked like a decent enough place to post my question (forgive the partial thread-jack)...

So, I've had a dse901 for about a week now. Was having some smoke production issues, but now that I have juice, I've found I can at least get it to perform well in shorter bursts by keeping the atty primed and the cartridge topped off. Doesn't perform as consistently as my wife's (purchased at the same time) though.

Anyways, last couple of days here is something that is happening...

The battery is flashing about a dozen times randomly here and there. Still working, and not b/c of low charge, as I've had it happen with freshly charged batteries as well. Had it happen with both of my batteries, so it doesn't seem to be a battery issue.

Don't know what it means, b/c the manual mentions nothing of the sort, and the info on the led warnings is not accurate to what mine does in the first place.

I get 10 flashes when the battery is dead and it will not hit any more. Change the battery and all good.

A couple of time I have gotten flashes for like 20 seconds... Thought *maybe* that is the atty cleaning itself, though it doesn't seem to have been in 1500 puff intervals. Neither of those are consistent with what the manual says it's supposed to do.

But, now, I'm randomly getting about a dozen flashes. still works, but it does it randomly with batteries that are not low on charge.

    any idea what this means?

    thanks in advance.

    later.

Hi Rhamza and welcome to ECF! Most auto batteries have a built in cut-off, around 5 seconds, and when you hit that when drawing then the battery will flash. Doesn't mean anything except you hit that point. The manual batteries don't have that cut-off.

If you're battery is just randomly flashing and you aren't hitting a cut-off and it doesn't need charging, then you have gremlins in the battery and there's not a lot you can do about that (j/k).

I have some 901 manual batteries that DO have the cutoff.

Perhaps that's a signal flash telling you that you have hit the cutoff a lot lately and need to take a break or something?

Hey, thanks for the reply... Not 100% sure it's just the auto-cutoff, but it may be... I find it happening when I just put in a fresh battery lately, and I tend to take a longer hit on teh first one to see if the smoke is upping or not (testing whether the bat was low).

Anyways, since posting earlier, I was taking long slow drags and getting what I assume was the same "random" flashing. Counted 15 flashes each time...

Seems like that may have been the case. thanks for the info.

Oddly, the flashes that actually happen are completely different from what the manual says they are supposed to be... 10 flashes and no worky anymore when the battery is dead vs. the 15 flashes the manual says it will do when it gets below 3.3v or whatever...

Anyways, thanks for the help. Nice place you guys have here, and thanks for the welcome

now, if I can just get my vape performing as consistently well as my wife's Seems to be a bit hit or miss with these things in terms of quality control.

The plug-in (wall) charger will show green with no battery installed.

I'm confused.... is this a plug-in (115VAC) charger? And the battery won't screw into it?
