    It's my understanding that these batteries auto cut off at a preset voltage so they never actually deplete to less than 40% or so since performance never dwindles down to nothing. If this is true then just discharge to the cut off and store. Although some research indicates a built in feature that stops a li-ion battery from being recharged after a low voltage point unless you have the special charger for this. So given the slow discharge after time factor you would probably want to add some charge over the cut off to compensate.
