Janty Stick basically dead : (
Hello all. I love my Janty Stick. Got it about 2 weeks ago and its worked wonderfully until about Thursday of last week. All of a sudden, the battery no longer charges. Well, it does but just very very very slowly. Now, I've had a bad battery before. That doesn't bother me. Trouble is, I switched batteries and the other battery has the same issue.
When I say slow, I mean, I leave the Janty plugged into my computer for 48 solid hours and it still shows as charging. Before I could vape while plugged into usb port. Now, I plug in, leave it for an hour, and then I can get maybe one full drag. Next one gives me red blinks. The charging is taking place because if I leave it for about 2 hours, I can get about 2 drags before "blink blink blink".
Point is, it doesn't seem like the batteries are bad. It seems like the usb pass-through mechanic of the Janty Stick has bitten the dust. What do I do? Has anyone had this problem before? If so, please help. I've had to fall back on my old Npro and I've never wanted to switch back to analogues so badly.

It's still under warranty. Let Janty know about the problem and let them fix it for you.

The quick check is to use the standard wall battery charger on your 10440s and see what happens. The PT/charger cable for my stick went south after about 2 months of use.
The multi-meter is the PV user's best friend, btw. There's no reason to guess and swap parts around whenever something isn't working right.
I hope your issue is with the USB cable. That's an easy fix. If it's in the body of the JS, it could spell trouble. I'm in my 7th week of waiting for a replacement JS body from Janty.
My personal opinion is this -- the JS should not be anyone's main vape. It's just too temperamental. It's a fine back-up and great for stealth vaping occasions. When it was my main device I wasn't comfortable unless I was carrying a couple of pen style batteries and a fully charged 510 PCC as well. It's just too much of a PITA as a main vape.

Your computer may be the root of the problem. The USB ports have protection against shorts and other faults.
It may be the powermanagement of your computer that is not sending full power to that port. I could be it didn't detect a device on the port, so its safty is to shut down power or send minimal power. Or it was shorted at some point, tripping that USB port into some sort of safty mode.
Try another USB port, and try another computer. If thats the problem, see if you can adjust your computer's setting. That would be in your start up, the text screen that flashes for a second when you turn your computer on, which say HIT shift+F3 or whatever for settings.. Look for a power management menu or something.

My thoughts/experience exactly - have one bad USB port on my laptop while switching to different port solved the problem.

A bit of an update. So far, I've tried a wall plug (with both batteries), 5 different mini usb cables, 3 work pcs, and 2 home pcs. All have the exact issue. It charges... technically. This is what I was afraid of. Appears it may be the body of the Janty. Oh well : ( Guess I need to contact Janty.

But, the switch is not the only issue. Because the atty connection is deep inside the body when it leaks (and all devices leak, at least a little) you don't know about until it leaks out from the seams or even the USB port. The on-board PCB is at the front of the device, so it's the first stop when there is a leak. My device stopped working, after 5 months or so, I believe from the PCB getting wet and possibly shorted. We'd have to ask Ethan and get an autopsy from the Janty lab to find out for sure. =)
I wouldn't back away from the JS completely though. It serves a purpose for me -- just not as a main/everyday device. And Janty's warranty is just terrific.

I've gone through a new JS every month since I bought one. I email Janty USA, and they send a new one quickly. But they don't last a month. Leakage and button problems still...I like the JS, but it's very tempermental. I ended up ordering some better mods, so I have plenty back ups..
