Default 10440 batteries in a 14500 charger that says it handles 10440 - get red blinkies of doom

I have a tenergy charger that came with my puresmoker protege to charge its 14500 3.7v batteries. The sticker on the charger lists many other battery types it can charge, including 10440

I just stuck two of the ultrafire blue 10440 batteries that came with my 901 lasermod and when I plugged in the charger, the lights turned red and were flashing. I only left it plugged in a few seconds as I didn't like the flashing red lights.

will this charger work or is the blinky red lights as bad a sign as it looks

by the way I'm trying this because either the 10440 batteries I have are dead or the 10440 surefire charger it came with sucks because I can't get good vape off these 10440 batteries on my lasermod, 2 puffs maybe then nothing and the vendor said there were some reports of bad 10440 chargers

Valhalla1--If you look right on the back of that charger it lists all the 3.7 volt batteries it charges and the 10440 is in fact one of them. Try pluging in the charge and then putting the battery on the charger and see if it blinks.

I agree with sun. Plug the charger in first *then* insert one battery at a time. By having both batteries in the charger before power up, it could possibly create a power surge through the charger.

well after closer examination the two chargers actually look like exactly the same device, with just two different brand logos on it.
I tried having it plugged in first, then plugging in the batts. This time the lights were green on charger when empty and stayed green after putting in the batteries, even though I couldn't get any vapor off them in my lasermod. I left them in a few hours, haven't tried them yet as I'm happily breaking in my puresmoker protege at the moment but I will see if they work a little later

thx for replies, I didn't know it was ok to plug the batts in after charger was already plugged in, I guess I was worried at first of electrocuting myself lol
