i put my 401 in front of my car speaker to test this. granted its not 100 watts per channel, but i had to turn it up all the way to set it off. i guess i could see it going off in a loud nightclub though.

My husband can not take his pilot to work, he drives an 18 wheeler-it turns on constantly...So it is useless to him....Also I have seen mine turn on in 2 different vehicles, with NO music on. I have to take a 901 with me when going somewhere so I don't burn out my Pilot.

I have noticed that I have to roll the windows up in my truck in order vape my 401. If the windows are down, the wind in the truck sets them off. They stay "lit" until abruptly shutting off. Then I have to put it away for a few minutes until I can use it again. They seem to be ultra sensitive!

ok i will say....i've heard info that it does not have a microphone...but is just ultrasensitive. i'll be testing that on saturday

The M401 (Like the Janty Dura, 510, and other M series Ecigs) Uses an Electric Switch. This is not like the old pneumatic/mechanical type switches. A 901 batt will never turn on unless inhaled upon ... however, each draw pulls more power when compared to an electric switch. Pound for pound, pneaumatic switches are a thing of the past, and electric switches are the future. They do have their kinks, but every *new* ecig model should start to be using these. I know Sailebao was working on some electric/high discharge batteries for the 801, and I actually have a few here. However, the switch for the 801's has yet to be perfected (as well as 510/dura) So far, the most consistent Electric Switch to date I have seen or personally used is that of the M Series ...
I can pick up a huge bundle of M401 batteries, and as soon as I pick them up, all 50 lights turn on at the same time! Quite a sight I must say
haha
EDIT: O, and for the record.
- RN Series use pneumatic (brick/mortar) switches
- DSE Series use pneumatic (brick/mortar) switches [unless requested on the 801]
- JOYE Series I believe use pneumatic for most models minus the 510/Dura. Not sure on the minifogger.
- KR's ... I'm assuming pneumatic
- M series ... All use electronic switches

Just chiming in.
Yes, the 401 batteries can't tell the difference between positive pressure / negative pressure / sound pressure, etc...
The switches in them are SUPER sensitive and WILL be triggered by music in clubs, wind whipping through a car with the window down and loud car stereos.
They can also be triggered by tapping, shaking, moving, yelling, breathing, blinking and farting.
They work like a beast though, don't they?

Terraphon--Does it pose a real issue?

Terraphon--Glad you posted here--are you finding this to be an issue that is managable or is this something that you would consider a concern-- never knowing when the batteries are going to fire up (heating up atomizer, lose of battery life, etc.) Is this something that that we can just dismiss as unremarkable?--Thanks for your input on this issue--Sun
