    Default portable USB battery packs

ok, this info seems rather spread out, can someone verify what they use or recommend for a portable charged battery pack?

i've seen generally 1000mah, no less, to run a passthrough, but what about higher?

and what about using that battery pack to charge USB batteries? anyone tried that? any risk if the power is too high?

this is still in relation to my EVO batteries not telling me they're charged. if the problem is with the PC and it cutting power to the ports so it can't tell me it's charged...if i leave the PC out of the equation then by all means i should get an indicator, at least that's how it's being explained it seems.

more to the point, this looks like a pretty good deal, though it charges via USB and not mains.

    forgot the link.

2100mah capacity...not output. Need to know output for it to work with the passthrough. Might be good for charging....I don't know because I've never used one that way....but need more info to see if it would work with the passthrough (unless I missed it there.)

Flitzanu--You can use a battery pack to charge a battery--I do it all the time with mine. I looked at your link and I do not see the output specs of the usb--it should be 1000Ma or 1 AMP if you want to use it with a passthrough as you have read. Do not go by the mHA rating---Sun

ok so let me rephrase then, and remove the passthrough part.

for those of you (sun!) who have used one to charge, is there an OUTPUT rating that i should find, minimum, in order to use as a USB charger for batteries?

they don't make passthroughs for 401 yet anyway, hehe. just a future option if i get a 901.

or...should i just bypass this radio shack stuff and check out that Duracell one that smokingclam posted the other day from wally mart??

what i'm looking to do is get one of these packs...and probably a wall jack (mains) with usb plugs to charge it instead of from the pc. mostly for when i'm not near a pc.

Flitz--go for the Duracell--I picked one up and it is great sizewise and has the proper rating. Anytime you can not get output specs take a pass. I took me 3 purchases months back before the output rating was common knowledge to find the right one!!! Buy the Duracell and call it a night--Batteries flashing at the Club to boot!!!!!!!!!!! Sun

Flitz--this is the beast I bought--you can not kill it. 3 days of vaping easy. But this new duracell is hard to beat size wise and I am on my second day. Clam reported 22 hours if I am not mistaken--Sun

$30 + $12 shipping??? The duracell is probably a lot cheaper....something like $30 at the store or $20 online (if I recall correctly).
