I see. The mod battery doesn't fall off as fast as the 901 battery. That's probably the reason.

Well, I did get the N size coax jack from Radio Shack, and it doesn't work with a 510 atty... I thought I had read somewhere on this forum that the 510 and 901 attys were the same size...
At any rate, they only had 2 coax connectors of this type there.. Size N, and size M... And the N size connector doesn't have any interior threads to screw the atty into, so even if it was the right size, it still wouldn't work.
Do you know if they have one that'll work with a 510 atty?
Coax jack is ONLY for 901 atty.
For 510 atty you need either the connector from a 510 battery, or a 401 atty, or a 401 charger. The 401 has the same threads as the 510 only reversed (atty is female)
Can't we all just get along?
Thanks for all the guidance thus far from everyone. I currently have just one more question that others may be curious of as well. Is there a way to close the atomizer so that leaking into the battery box is not possible? Sorry if this has been posted before, it only seemed logical to close the hole. in my opinion, if you soldered the hole in the bottom of the atomizer closed the N connector i'm using would still make contact... and might even make contact better?
ronjon, if you decide to do this, please PM me with details of any sudden atomizer failures. I'm especially interested if you use an 801. Thanks.
One could enlarge the air inlet hole and seal the battery hole to gain the easier draw. I like to keep the connector open, because it is easier; but then i've never found juice getting into the battery/box.

Well I got my very own hand crafted nico stick vaping away nowI did manage to get the connector out of the aluminum tube. Long story short, it involved a hammer a chisel mounted vice a pair of pliers and an exacto knife for cutting the epoxy once I peeled down the aluminum like a bannana. This really is an awsome mod and I'm absolutly loving having a manual switch instead of a preasure switch. Thanks Nico for the well made instructions and the whole forum in general for being a wealth of information. I reccomend if you havn't built one yet and are thinking about it go for it

after closing the hole on the bottom of atomizer and slightly boring out the air inlet I've had no trouble in the past couple of hours of vaping. The N size coax jack from Radio Shack is actually a little easier to connect with the solder covering the hole. The first "nicostick" I made I had to separate the middle connect with a small screwdriver and this one was simply thread it to make contact and it was ready to go. I'll post back as far as results on atomizer life, but this far it doesn't seem to be running hotter than normal.
Jeez, I must be a .....! I have the AA battery box and the Ultrafire 14500 but it will not fit in the box. It comes close but it won't fit in without almost busting the plastic. Should I be taking the last spring off where the neg contact is on the batttery? That would probably make it fit but I didn't see where it said to.
Edit-- I either have a funky battery or the wrong box because even without the contacts in the battery will not squeeze in. There's a lip around the top (+) side that is too fat to let it seat properly. Maybe I can cut the center divider a bit. If my Janty stick would get here I wouldn't have to do this.lol I've already wasted a perfectly good flashlight and now this.
