nicostick to passthrough

So, I got tired of waiting for the batteries for the nicostick I made and decided to make it a usb passthrough. It works good except it takes away the flavor of my juice. Its running at just above 5v. I'm thinking that's a bit much, is there something I can do to drop the volts down to just over 4v? Also when i use it, my laptop tells me that I'm exceeding the power limits of the port? Could my multimeter be off? All the help is appreciated.

You can drop the voltage by soldering a diode between the atomizer and the positive wire. (IN4004 drops about .6 volts)

The laptop USB is what it is. If it can't handle the passthrough, you'll have to find another power source.
