One way to use (connect) flat-style camera/mobile batteries.

We probably all have quite a few of these; and they are ideal for use in mods, although some of the wider ones will not fit into the smallest NicoStick box. But my Samsung camera batteries do - just

The ones I have are all 750mAh, which is great, and the size and slimness is good too for box mods. But how to connect them?

    Here's my solution ...

I don't see myself using this method to build a mod but it is very good information to be aware of just in case I ever have to MacGuyver an ecig while I am on the go.

I carry a spare cell phone battery in my wallet.

    Thanks a lot,

Looks hammy, but works well. Can get a very good tight springy contact. And with little extra space taken.

Another way would be to use a mounting board, with two small screws with the heads making the contacts and a spring or some foam at the other end.

Very, very clever paperclip work, kina. And I love the touch switch. Did you cover that in a thread I missed?

Edit: Duh, found the thread two seconds after I posted.

    Adding a couple of notes:

Probably best to make the contact bit first using some narrow pliers and then then with this held tightly in place bend the long eires around the other side of the battery; then take out battery to bend the wire more fully into position.

Once made the connectors can be reused; i.e. one can replace the battery after recharging; reconnect by putting the contact end on first then prising the other end over the battery.

    Version two.

The battery sits on a board that has a second layer at one end (joined with wood glue/resin). A piece of highish density foam is used as a kind of spring that the battery can push back against, allowing the two connector arms to snap over the battery to make electrical contact. Had a nice vid of this with a great 'snap' sound but my video software is down So pics only. The foam could be glued in place.

The arms fit into 1mm holes made with a drill; slanting backwards to will not come out.

The pics can fill in the rest of the details ...
