How are you attaching the different connectors to the RCA jacks?

take a close look at the picture that shows the RCA and you will notice the cover was cut so it would fit the connector under pressure, no glue.
That goes for the plastic connectors, the metal one, i cut the cover of the RCA plug to the desired length (so the center prong touches the center prong of the batt connector)
you can then either solder the connector to the metal cover, or glue it...works both ways. i will post a couple of pics later of the inside so you can figure it out better, hope it will help mnealtx

I'm wondering if you can make a 510 socket from a gutted RCA socket or plug ...

    Need about 6mm diameter inside.

    Unfortunately i don't have a 510 and never did.
    Isn't a 901 atty thread about 6 mm?

P.S. i just took the close pics of the RCA's , I'm reducing size and cropping them to post them in a few

I did see the pics...it just wasn't readily apparent HOW you got various atomizers and such in there - looking forward to the new pics. What RCA adapters are you using for the shells, in the pictures with the 3 different adapters?

    Default deconstruction of RCA adapters

O.K., as you can see in the first pic, the plastic caps are chopped at different lengths since the cap is tapered depending where it will be wider or narrower. 901 and 801 are very similar in diameter so the caps were cut basically at the same point. the prongs inside the RCA were cut to about 1/8 inch long only and i soldered a little cable from those to the batt connector.
On the second pic you see the negative prong inside the RCA was cut off completely since the whole thing is making contact with the outer edge of the battery connector. The center prong was left intact so it makes contact with the center of the connector also, no wires, no soldering, just 2 drops of glue to secure both the 901 and 801 to the RCA cap.
I have yet to make a metal 401 adapter, i still don't know how since it is much smaller and i have to figure out how to hold it in there (maybe epoxy or a glue gun?)
As you can see, the metal plugs are much easier to work with and faster, but you need to do a decent straight cut on the cap.
I got all the connectors at radio rats.

Thanks for the pics, that makes it a lot clearer.

Could you possibly link to the connectors you used at RS? I might just incorporate something like this into a Nicostick that I'm planning.

    here are the links Mike:

    Phono (RCA-Type) Plug (2-Pack) - RadioShack.com

    Phono Plug (8-Pack) - RadioShack.com

this one is for the jack that would go in the box...

    Panel-Mount RCA Phono Jack (4-Pack) - RadioShack.com

if you are going to order online, I would suggest looking in other places, since radio shark prices are...well, ridiculous!
