    I was wondering if someone could tell me where to buy the 5v ti regulator that people use on 5v box mods?

    hittman, any electronic parts store. allelectronics, jameco, digikey, mouser, sparkfun. The part you are looking for is a 7805 5v regulator. There are also numerous companies that make these regulators besides TI.

    No other company gives you 5 samples for free + free shipping, that is why I don't mention any others.

    I did see them at RatShack for about $1.50, but as Warp said you can get 5 free samples (after filling out lots of BS forms), with free shipping from TI, I did.

    The TI has a LDO of less than .5v. The other regulators such as the much cheaper LM7805 have a large drop out of over 2v and it makes them entirely unsuitable for mods.

    If you are getting 5v regulators, get the TI version.

    FWIW...The 7805 and the TI UCC383TDKTTT-5 are two different animals....

    The TI one is a low-voltage dropout regulator. The 7805 is not.
