Default Shotgun mod in a neat case

During my recent move, I found an emergency Palm charger lying around that I thought would be great for modding. It's essentially a 4xAA box, but the batteries are arranged 2x2, rather than 4x1, so it fits very nicely in the hand, even though it's a bit large. It also has a battery door, so that you can change batteries without opening up the box. This is a big deal for me, since I hate having to carry a size 0 screwdriver around with me everywhere, just in case I need to change batteries. Add a built-in safety switch, and handy little rubber feet to keep the whole thing from sliding around on a flat surface, and it's a great box to work out of.

At first I thought I'd make a high volt mod, using two 14500s, but lately I've realized I don't like 510 atomizers at high volts. My 801s are great at 5v, but those are more of a novelty for me, since I always go back to a 510 at 3.7v. In any case, I decided to just put the batteries in parallel, so that I could have a long-life device. But that still left more than half the box for me to use, and that just seemed like a waste. So I ordered some 14650 batteries, figuring that 1600mAh is better than 900mAh, even if they were a bit pricier.

There were some serious problems along the way (like 14650s don't actually fit in the battery door without some modification), and I almost gave up a few times. I'm glad I didn't, because I really like the end product. It's a bit ugly, and it has a few problems, but I'm still enjoying it:

As you can see, the two atomizers are very close together, and that's one of the limitations of the box. If you're going to keep the kill switch in place, that's the only way to fit two atomizers. It's not ideal, but it still gives me throat hit like nothing else.

The box came with a nice LED that I salvaged for use in the mod:

Here's a shot of the battery loading door:

As you can see, I had to grind out a good bit of plastic to make an angle shallow enough to put these extra-long batteries in there without opening up the whole box.

One of the nice things about it is the versatility. You can use dual atomizers, or just one. Also, you can use dual batteries, or just one.

Finally, here's a shot of the guts. Sorry about the picture quality, all I have is my cell phone camera.

I did this unintentionally, because I grabbed an atomizer/cart with 555, and another with orange creamsicle. Actually didn't taste bad at all.

I dig the name. The Shotgun works well for the double barrel feature.

Well, I'm not claiming to have come up with the "shotgun" name...I'v heard others on this forum use the term.

As an update, after using this for a bit, one of the nice (though unexpected) features of this mod is that I have to refill carts less often. Instead of having to swap out a cart halfway through my commute, it was still going strong at the end of my drive.

    Very nice!

Wow Looks great. I am slowly getting my dual atty monster built. I think I am over planning. I should just build it... But I want it to look nice and not need repairs when finished. You have rekindled my inspiration. Thank you

Edit..Caesar, about the charger. with 2 batteries in parallel would The 1 usb charger top them both off correctly or would you need 2 usb boards for that?
