Is there a protected battery the same size and voltage as the cr2?

No. There's currently no source for protected batteries smaller than a 16340 (AW made a protected CR2 for a while, but has discontinued it).

There is a smaller cell 14250, it is very close size to a cr2(15270), problem is neither of them come in protected and having them custom made is turning out to be a chore. Seeing as there being used above there max output range, its causing the protection circuit to kick in rendering the batteries useless until a reset. Raising the protected output to get them to work is defeating the purpose altogether.
