Review: Marcado, Johnson Creek Red Oak, 100% VG 18mg nicotine

I tried this one, because I smoked Kreteks a couple of times in my youth and really enjoyed them, and I heard this was a good clove juice that replicated the clove cigarette pretty well. While my memory of clove cigarettes is faint, I do think JC was right on target with Marcado.

I'm still in vaping kindergarten, so I vaped this on a 78mm Smoov cigalike with a standard resistance cartomizer. Results with more sophisticated setups will vary.

Packaging: It's common knowledge that JC's packaging is some of the best in the vaping business. Full size bottles are amber glass with droppers, labels have ingredients and lot number printed on them. The liquid is thick, brown, what you'd expect from a strongly flavored VG. I left it in my car on a cold day and found out that, at cooler temperatures, it can't easily be poured or vaped. It took a while to fill and settle into my cartomizers, and I'm not sure how well it would work in a cartomizer/tank system.

The taste: Very very clove! Sweet hit on the tip of the tongue, adds to a little numbness further back in the mouth. I think there's some vanilla and cinnamon underlying as well. A hint of rich tobacco base, but spices are the predominant taste. Strong throat hit. On the exhale, the vapor is good and heavy, the sweetness fades but the spice persists. Overall a sweet/spicy vape with some tobacco notes. Doesn't match well with any foods I've tried, but does very well alongside a cup of coffee-- it seems to perk up bad coffee, in fact!

Presentation: 10/10
Vapor: 8.5/10
Flavor: 8/10
Throat Hit: 9/10
Overall: 8.5/10.

I love this juice, and I'll never be without it. But it's too strong and unique to be an all-day vape for me.-- a few dozen puffs and I’m ready for something less aggressive. I’ll probably try it in a lower nicotine level, and see if that suits me better. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves cloves, in cigarettes or spice.
