Review: 555 Cartomizers, Smokeless Image/Volt, Proprietary PG/VG mix, 12mg nic

Got these because I’m looking for good tobacco flavors, these got decent reviews, and they’ve available at my local smoke shop. Even better, they were refillable-- when the blanks cost just as much as the pre-filled cartos, doesn't make much sense to get blanks even if you know you're eventually going to put other stuff in them. But I was pleasantly surprised-- I quite liked the 555.

Packaging: Boxed set five cartomizers, each in individual blister pack . Box and each cartomizer marked with blend and strength. Cartomizers themselves are well made, stainless steel with paper wrap, semi-opaque sillicone end caps with fair sized air holes, well-molded, minimal leakage and easy to remove and replace. Good basic tech.

Taste: Decent tobacco base, rather thin, fairly sweet with a nutty overtone that grows stronger as you vape it. Dry vapor that’s almost smoky. Good initial throat hit c/w 12mg strength with residual dry scratch much like actual cigarettes. Vapor not as full as I like. No real standout features to make me love it, though. Not as subtle and pleasant as Halo’s prime 15 and not as thick and heavy as JC’s Red Oak Tennessee Cured, but quite palatable.

Presentation: 8/10
Vapor: 6/10
Flavor: 7/10
Throat Hit: 8/10
Overall: 7/10.

Surprisingly decent basic tobacco, especially for a pre-filled carto. I think this will likely be my go-to local carotomizer purchase from now on. (Though I hear the SI RY4 is also quite tasty, so I’ll have to try that to compare.)
