Halo Triton!

8:30am: So-- wow! Just fired up my new Triton and I'm loving it already. So powerful! Three hits and it filled up the whole room with vapor, and made me super dizzy. I've got a low tolerance for nicotine, so I can overdose myself pretty easily, but it's rarely happened so fast. I'm vaping a mix of 50/50 Red Oak Tennessee Cured 18mg and Pharmboy Black Sundae 0 for a total of aboug 9mg/mL. I got more of a buzz off a couple hits from the Triton than from vaping half an hour on a cigalike+cartomizer of 18% juices. Going to have to watch myself with this.

10:00 am: Tank seemed to be working less well as soon as it got down to less than 2 mL. Frustrating, but expected (it's even in the manual). DId fine as soon as I topped it off. Now I'm trying out some Tribeca 6mg in a LR cartomizer. Nice, thick, warm vapor, still firing better than a standard cigalike battery, but not as copious as from the tank.

10:00pm: I'm coming to the end of my first day vaping on the triton and, I have to say, I'm very satisfied. The battery is still going strong. Currently I have a standard resistance SI cartomizer on it, with Red Oak Marcado 18%. The stronger battery is really bringing out the delightful spicy flavor of that juice, as well as its sweetness. The tank seems to be more tolerant of lower fills the longer I've been using it. I'd also have to admit, I'm using a thicker juice than it's designed for-- it's about 85% VG, and VG juices don't wick as well as PG.

I've gone through a lot more e-liquid today than I would usually have done. The Triton is so much fun to use, that I'm having trouble putting it down. I definitely think I should stick with lower nicotine juices in it in the future, or my nic consumption is goign to go up dramatically. (I'm already imagining the damage this is goign to do to my budget. . .)

Slightly less satisfying, however, was the G6 battery I included in the order-- which pretty much exploded when I connected it to the charger. I had heard that Halo batteries tended to arrive needing a bit of an extra charge, so I connected my G6 up to its charger, in the USB port of my computer, right out of the box. The light flashed a couple times, super bright, then it and the light on the charger went out. A wisp of smoke came from the tip, and there was a smell of burning electronics. I went to disconect it, and it was too hot to touch. When I got it off my computer, the ash cap fell off-- one of the corners had melted. The inside was still smoking a bit, and there was a blackened spot where I think the LED should have been. So I think the LED burnt out right when I connected it.

I've put in a support ticket, and have every confidence it will be resolved without any trouble. But I was sad-- I'd heard good things about the G6 and had been looking forward to using it as a lower profile alternative to the Triton. I'd wanted to compare it to the Smoov 808 mini system I've been working with. I still think I'll get another G6, since this was clearly faulty device, and Halo's reputation for hardware is generally good.

And it's a small irritation, though, given how happy I am with the Triton.
