Genesis RBAs--Mesh Musings

Αs I type this, I am chain-vaping on the following set-up: Standard Did D20 Polished SS, Astro clone mechanical mod, three-wrap twisted 32 Kanthal, 10 cm 325 mesh, ohming out to 1.12. 50/50 Ry4 Zero Nic from Quantum Vapor in NJ. This is, by far, the BEST vape that I have ever had. It took a few months to get here.

I have practiced on many clones. And will continue to vape on clones, especially since I travel alot for work, and do not wish to ding up my pretty new Poldiac.

I have been using eHuman's blog posts as a reference on technique, and a few tips that I came across, while perusing ECF.

Here is a tip, from me: Genesis mesh setups take TIME. Take your TIME wrapping that coil. Hit that 32 kanthal briefly with a torch, if you have to, in order to make it behave like you need it to.

Take your TIME installing the wick-and-coil into the rba. It really is ok if 'Boogie Nites' by Heatwave played ten times on your Ipod, and you are still fooling around with this. If you have to be somewhere, pick up your backup device, and finish this later.

After the coil installation, and hot-leg picking out, and you have that perfect firing coil, take your TIME. I came across a post, written by an ECF member a long time ago. Keep pulsing the dry coil, like 50 times, to get the oxidation built up.

juice burns. Another long time. Go put on some Dave Matthews. Get rid of those hot legs. Keep playing with that coil. If you took your time making that coil in the beginning, this step might not take AS long, but don't skimp on it. Go put on dinner, everyone's getting hungry. Come back, burn some more juice.

Here's the thing--I am going to repeat this process, later tonight, before everyone wakes up. The Witching Hour. With a couple of Aga Hydras--a GREAT quality, bullet-proof atty at a fraction of the cost of the Standard Did from MM Vapors. And in the end, I won't be able to put those devices down either, and will want to vape them all day long. Rbas have different design features. MM Vapors engineered a genesis rba that delivers a great, warm vape. The Aga Hydra, by Youde does a great job in delivering the same type of vape. But it is up to US, to fashion the best wick-and-coil for the device that we hold in our hands.

Many years ago, I was smoking a cigarette. Sitting on the steps leading up to a trailer that I lived in, as an undergrad. I'm sitting there, in this trailer park, and I heard the most AMAZING music. A trumpet. I put my cig out, and two doors down, someone was playing this trumpet inside of the house. He'd stop, then pick up on another phrase. I went back to the house, grabbed my cd of Miles Davis 'Kind of Blue' and scrawled, on a post it, something like 'don't ever stop doing this'. Went back to their house, put the cd in their newspaper box.

The next day, I spotted the mom, went up, told her that I was the one who placed the cd in their box. She told me that it was her high school son, who was playing the music. I guess my point is, that WRT rbas, you might spend some money, on good quality mesh and wire( for the gennie type) and you should spend some money on good quality, SAFE devices, and batteries. It does not HAVE to be the real Did. The music can be found anywhere, if you just take some time with it.

Thank You for indulging me :D

....so anyway, after my family got their breakfast, and I popped coils on the Agas by abusing them too much, I threw caution to the wind, and took another stab at the pulse method. Raw, unoxidized mesh. Coil off the atty. Make a perfect coil, no gaps, wick should be able to move up and down. Install coil, quick pulse, when coil looks kosher, with no hot legs or shorts, prime 'er, fill 'er, watch the vape for a couple secs, VAPE.

As an added note, if your dry-fire looks kosher, DON'T abuse it. Test with some juice, fill 'er and vape'er. I think i may be guilty of 'coil-abuse'
