I'm not QUITE a medical professional yet. I'm finishing my externship at a large and busy downtown clinic.
I am a LOT more grateful for my e-cigs now. I haven't seen any employees smoking since I started 6 weeks ago. While I don't think there's an explicit smoke-free employee policy, smoking seems to be STRONGLY discouraged. Not only that, but I'm learning that medical assistants just don't get very many breaks.
So... No more of those leisurely 10-minute smoke/vape breaks for me. Instead, I sneak into an empty exam room, or take a bathroom break, and vape. Since my e-cig is stainless steel, I can even vape if nobody is right next to me, and it looks like I'm just working with a pen. I'm learning how to hold my vapor until it doesn't show.
I'm also learning that it IS possible to go several hours without vaping at all.
I would be going nuts without my e-cigs.
