Yeah, it's very important to build relationships with the wholesalers (many are Chinese), and to get professional business consultancy, even if this isn't your first business. I've never ran anything bigger than a market stall, so setting up a brand new shop is something I don't envy you, but I really wish you every success.
as already pointed out, you'll need to be expert with everything you sell, otherwise you won't come over well to people who've brought your product and need urgent technical advice. And yeah, it's also true that people can order hardware at the click of a button, and for quite cheaper, so having a unique selling point is important. Hell, you could even have a "vaping/coffee lounge" and offer free juice re-fills of flavours your trying to push (that's if you're making your own). One thing the net can't compete with you on is hands-on experience; this is a major thing, because it means they can actually come in and handle the hardware before blindly buying it-if I were you I'd use this. For example, you could have display pieces of popular models-let them actually vape the device before they buy. (Though I'm not sure how this works out hygenicaly...)
overall IMO it's important to have expertise in your product, direct relationships with wholesalers, reasonable prices to compete with shops in your area, and a gimmick.
Starting a shop is a pretty major commitment, so be ready for lots of stress, at least to begin with until you know what your doing. Maybe it would be a better idea to start off with a stall or vending stand; these are becoming very popular, the outlays are far lower, and you'll need a more limited inventory, meaning you're not dealing with dozens of models.
