I REALLY like the vapor production and honest-to-goodness taste performance of a good CE2 type device. I also love the hard throat hit of a Mega Dual Coil. The latest twin coil offering from Vaping Zone seems like it should be the best of both worlds.

After placing my order, Vaping Zone had them to my door in their usual lightening fast manner. I ripped the package open in eager anticipation of my wildest clearomizer dreams coming to fruition.

After tearing open one of the individually wrapped twins, I was faced with somewhat of a dilemma that I am quite unaccustomed to. For the first time since I began this vaping journey, I didn't know how to fill the darned things, I figured the top would have the familiar two small holes in which one would insert a syringe into...no such luck. The plastic insert appeared to be one solid piece with a hole in the center.

I briefly pondered about filling through the center hole until I looked a little closer and found that filling through that hole would fill directly into the cup that houses the dual coils...not gonna do that. Then I figured possibly it was designed to be filled like a carto tank in that one would simply wiggle a syringe between the top and the side of the clearo and fill. Attempting to do so ended up almost gouging a hole into the side. So much for that idea. So, in desperation I sent an email to the kind folks at Vaping Zone asking just exactly how one is to go about filling the blasted thing.

Turns out, the plastic top piece is two pieces after all. One simply has to grab the top piece with a small screwdriver or (in my case) a dental pick and pull it out...then you can syringe fill or drop juice down the inside of the carto. Points off here for not having some sort of filling instructions either on the web site or (better yet) included in the package.

I tried both hoping that I wouldn't have to resort to syringe filling. Both work equally as well.

The wicks in the clearo are IMMENSE and thick as small rope. i was excited to see that...postulating that the wicking would be incredible.

The tip included with the twins appears to be the same or similar to the tips one would get with an eGo Mega Dual Coil clearo...the baby bottle type tips but cut down drastically in size and much more comfortable. A standard 510 drip tip will not fit these clearos.

To be honest, I am somewhat disappointed in the performance of these twins. They do have the familiar twin coil popping and sizzling that I have grown to love. But that's about as far as the good review goes. At this point, I have only briefly tried one of the two twins that I ordered. They have an abhorrent aftertaste that I just cannot stomach. It's somewhat of a rubber/burnt taste that I have never experienced previously. Here's to hoping that it's just the one example and the other won't taste like that.

The vapor production is weak compared to a CE2 but good in terms of average cartomizers...for sure not worthy of it's low resistance dual coil nature though. Also, the throat hit and lung hit are just plainly average. Again, not worthy of a low resistance dual coil carto for sure.

Honestly, my first impression of the twin coil 510 clearo is that rather than combining the GOOD things from CE2 devices and mega dual coil cartos...they WEAKEN them. But I still cannot seem to get over the putrid aftertaste to get a good honest review done.

I have refilled the twin coil clearo twice now. Each time is a gut wrenching assault on my taste buds. But talk about a juice hog...this initial clearo used almost three milliliters of juice within about an hour!! WAYY too rich for my blood.

Here's to hoping that the first twin is just a bad example. I will try the second and report back after a few days. All said though, I think the folks at Vaping Zone are onto a great thing here...it just appears to be in need of some further development before it becomes what it really should be.

I sincerely hope that the first clearo is just a fluke, and that the second one will shine like I want it to. Stay tuned...

The Shine Mod and Acorn Tank from Parkes Vaping...First Impressions

In today's vaping world, mods are getting more and more common as we attempt to make what we use better. Unfortunately, they're also getting more and more expensive. Sometimes prohibitively so...enter Parkes Vaping and the Shine mod.

Yes, it's a flashlight body with a connector on top. The mod houses an 18650 battery for 3.7 volt vaping or two RCR123A 3 volt batteries for those who prefer a 6 volt experience.

My first impression of the mod was that there are prettier ones out there. But for the meager price of $25...you'll never find a prettier one.

Fit and finish are good with the top cap very nicely fitted to the mod. The body is aluminum, so a dab of Noalox is highly recommended on the threads of the battery compartment. I asked the folks at Parkes to build my Shine with a silver cap to match the body. The response from Bill, the mod maker, was "no problem at all."

To top the mod, I ordered an Acorn tank.

The Acorn Tank is basically a CE2 tank with an extremely simple filling system...unscrew the top and pour your juice in...easy peasy!!

My order was placed on a Friday evening. I received my order the following Monday! The folks at Parkes are top notch at speedy order filling, for sure!!

When my gear arrived, I had to wait another three days for the 18650 battery from a different supplier to arrive before I could try out the goods. As another side note regarding the speedy shipping from Parkes...I ordered the battery from a MAJOR vaping supply store (Madvapes) at the same time I placed the order for the Shine and Acorn tank.

Upon filling the Acorn tank with my home brew menthol Kool juice, I was impressed with the copious amounts of vapor, lung hit and throat hit from the Acorn Tank. The 18650 battery will supply ample amount of power for days of vaping, and the 3A button on the Shine promises plenty of presses before it will fail.

I was in absolute heaven with the Fluxomizer-like vapor from the Acorn and wonderful feel of the Shine supplying copious power.

Then things went a little awry...the Acorn began leaking from the center post. Every few puffs required a cleaning with a paper towel. I immediately contacted Parkes and asked if this was normal.

Their response was that this was definitely NOT normal, and they would be sending a new tank that day!! Most suppliers would tell you that you're just out of luck in a situation like this as cartomizer and atomizer type devices are generally not guaranteed. Not so with Parkes. They advised me that they stand firmly behind their products. I believe them!

A few days later the replacement Acorn tank arrived and, while it does have the similar condensation on the battery connection from the center post that ALL CE2 type devices have, leakage is very much a non issue.

If you enjoy the fast wicking and tremendous flavor, throat hit, lung hit, and flavor of a modded Fluxomizer, but hate syringe filling...this is THE tank for you!!

Parkes also sells replacement wicks so you can pull the old ones and replace them without having to replace the entire tank. How much simpler can you get??

One minor gripe I have about the Shine mod is that it will not stand upright. The on/off switch lies at the bottom and is covered by a thin plastic "button" material. This is very simple to fix. I simply grabbed a Dremel and sanded the plastic button down flush with it's housing...now it sits upright as pretty as you please.

Also the folks at Parkes DO mention the fact that it will not stand up due to the button on their web site.

All in all, the folks at Parkes just seem to "get it!" Not everybody wants a mod that will set them back an arm and a leg. With use, your expensive "pretty" mod is going to get scratched up and beat up...in a month or two, it will likely look no prettier than Parkes' Shine!! But you'll have paid a WHOLE lot more for it...and thus far...the quality of the mod is sufficient that, with a modicum of care I can see it lasting many years.

Kudos to Parkes Vaping for making a high voltage mod that doesn't break the bank!!

When I ordered my Shine, I was honestly looking for a backup device...happily I report that it is now my go-to PV for all day vaping.

Kudos to Vaping Zone for actually FIXING the issure rather than ignoring it in hopes that it will "go away" as other vendors so commonly do.

Boge Standard Resistance Carto

One of the first cartomizers I ever tried was a Boge standard. The folks here on the ECF simply raved about them...that they tasted wonderful, gave massive amounts of TH, lung hit, vapor and they were likely going to be given the Nobel Peace Prize for ending world hunger!! OK, the last part wasn't true, but in my humble opinion, the other claims were just about as errant.

My first Boge carto reminded me of what someone might experience if they were to vape rubber through a tiny straw with a candle on the other end. The TH was...well...nonexistant. The vapor production was minimal, and I've had better lung hit breathing the local Dallas air.

To say the least, it almost completely ruined me on cartomizers early on in my vaping game. The folks on the ECF told me that it really needed to sit on top of a variable voltage or high voltage rig to be experienced correctly.

So, I tried it. I filled a carto, let it sit for a couple of hours and then put it atop my VV box and "lit it up." Low voltage was very familiar...not much to speak of at all...so I turned the voltage up...started to taste like a burnt tire...turned the voltage up a little more...tasted like a tire in volcanic magma...I tried every conceivable voltage my little box would produce and several different Boge cartos and never even once achieved even a fairly decent vape with it.

My juice is, as always, an 80PG/20VG combination and is my homebrew clear menthol fave...so if a carto can't handle that...then it will likely not be a go-to carto for me.

So let's recap...little to no throat hit, little to no lung hit, horrid taste, wimpy vapor production, but they are CHEAP!! The only redeeming value of them...Crystal Clear Vaping sells them cheaper than anyone I know.

Honestly, I do not see what the good folks on ECF like about these things. But, to each his/her own. One of the great things about vaping is that different things seem to satisfy different folks.

I have one Boge carto remaining...I'm not real sure what to do with it at this point. Perhaps I'll put hooks on it and use it as a fishing lure...

Gotvapes Fluxomizer Final Report

With the original short-term analysis of the Fluxomizer done, I wanted to report a more long term analysis of the latest in "clearomizer" technology...

With the original short-term analysis of the Fluxomizer done, I wanted to report a more long term analysis of the latest in "clearomizer" technology available from Gotvapes.

What can I say besides...WOW!!?? I finished the first package of Fluxomizers, vaping them on a variable voltage box mod at about 4.6 volts. Then I sold the box. That left me with my trusty eGos. My expectation was that they would likely underperform on the lower voltage of the 1000mAh eGo batteries in my stable. Boy, I don't think I've ever been more incorrect!!

Each Fluxomizer lasts an average of a few weeks before they give up their final vapor offering. Although, I would likely give them higher marks if the manufacturer would simply perform the required seal mod for us and ship them ready to go. Without the seal mod, they perform like a typical clearomizer with the exception of the tank cracking issues. They refuse to wick well, and quickly allow that familiar "burnt" taste to flood your mouth. I have yet to see one crack at all, and I've been pretty hard on them.

But after the seal mod, they shine like nobody's business!! The amount of vapor produced, even from a 3.0 -3.2 Ohm Fluxo atop a 3.2 volt eGo is simply astounding!! After using these little creatures of vapor heaven, I judge that if the vapor doesn't completely obscure my computer screen, it just isn't hitting correctly, and it gets dumped into the "emergency stash."

They score a little lower on the "fiddle factor" because of the required seal mod and having to fill them with a syringe. The redeeming value, however is that the seal mod is only required once and is over pretty quickly. Also, if you're a better shot with your juice than I, it is possible to drip the juice into the side as long as you stay away from the center cup. I've found the syringe topped juice bottles are excellent at reducing the "fiddle factor."

Out of ten Fluxomizers tested, only one lasted less than two weeks...it lasted one day and could have very easily been toasted by an overdose of voltage by the user on the old VV box. My final one (reminds me...I gotta order more) is still going after three weeks, although it no longer obscures my screen...only about 1/2 of it.

All things considered, after a day at work with the EMDCC, I relax with the smooth taste and incredible vapor from the Fluxomizer. They're a winner in my book and have become my evening 'till morning favorite with the Vaping Zone EMDCC getting the nod for daytime activities!!

A final word to Gotvapes...TELL YOU'R SUPPLIER TO MAKE THEM WITH THE SEAL MOD ALREADY DONE!!

One of my staple vapes is the eGo Mega Dual Coil Carto (EMDCC) from the folks at Vaping Zone. This monster looks exactly like it's twin from Madvapes, however it is manufactured by a different company. One of the primary things I look for is the web moniker stating that it is NOT a Smoketech carto.

Typically, these beasts outperform thier "brand name" sisters in every way! One of the primary things I really like about them is the way they pop and hiss like an angry viper, ready to strike. They practically pump plumes of wonderful vapor into your mouth for you to inhale. The taste is generally fair, but the TH is absolutely stunning!! I can say that I've never found anything...I mean ANYTHING that hits like a good "off brand" EMDCC from Vaping Zone. That is until the latest batch...

I ordered another 5 of them (this time in stainless as they were out of black) and from the first vape, I knew something was off...in a BIG way!!

No longer did the huge carto pop and hiss...gone was the massive plume of vapor and the throat hit, while still better than anything else I've tried at this point, was just not there. Apparently there are some manufacturing issues that are being worked out as I type this.

I just got an email from the folks at Vaping Zone. Apparently they know I'm a HUGE fan of the EMDCCs they sell. With the last batch being a little "shady" in terms of performance, they are sending me a brand new pack (5) of their latest shipment to try out, and report back. I must say, the folks at Vaping Zone really do seem to want to make this right!

I know they're as concerned (if not more so) than we are about it!! Knowing the great folks at Vaping Zone, they'll have this issue well in hand before long!

I'll be sure to let everyone here know what I find out as well! Stay Tuned!!

Howdy vapers!

Last evening I finally stalked the mailman long enough to deliver a brand new box of 2.8 - 3.0 Ohm Fluxomizer Deluxes to my mailbox. I wanted to try these babies out the first time I laid eyeballs upon them. The clear-ish green hue beckoned to me.

And so it was that the grand folks at GotVapes once again relieved me from some funds in my bank account and sent the little jewels my direction.

I ordered them on a Friday evening and recieved them on Tuesday. Not bad for shipping. Not terrific, but not bad at all...more on that later.

The GotVapes web store is very well arranged. To me everything is simple to find with great descriptions of the offerings they have for us vapers. Of course, when what you want is right there at the top of the first page...it doesn't get much simpler. Had my quarry not been right there, however the site's menu is extremely simple to navigate.

I would like to see a wishlist, however, to allow one to put everything in until we are ready to punch the "buy" button. But that is a fairly nit-picky thing. Upon checkout, confirmation emails were sent thus increasing communication and confidence in the store itself.

Saturday afternoon I recieved another email stating that the product had been shipped. However, being a weekend the wonderful US Postal Service decided to hold the package at the drop off location rather than sending it on it's way. They must have known I was watching them. So in all honesty, the slight lag in shipping was in no way due to anything GotVapes had any control over at all, short of them driving the things right over to my mailbox themselves.

The Fluxomizers were extremely well packaged and just exactly what I ordered. No errors at all.

Upon looking them over, I find them to be very well built. Supposedly the new "unbreakable" tubes do away with the days of cracking and leaking juices. We'll see about that.

The old(er) rev5 clearomizers lasted me almost a full week before they started cracking under the weight of my heavy-on-the-menthol juice I filled them with. Supposedly menthol makes the plastic crack faster.

Also of grave concern to me was the fact that, after some slight modification, the rev5 clearos would leak like a bride's mom on her wedding day if turned too much past vertical. Hopefully that issue has been addressed as well with the new designs of the Fluxomizer.

I have already heard several reports of the Fluxomizer needing some modding done prior to it's initial use. GotVapes has a great video that explains this "seal" mod...

I finished the seal mod in under three minutes, complete with wick fluffing. Then I filled it with some 75/25 caramel cappucino, tossed the bottom seal in the trash, re-inserted the middle seal over the cup and stuck it on my variable voltage box mod.

I turned the voltage all the way down...nothing...no taste no vapor...nothing. So I did what any self respecting American male would do...I turned it up about 3/4. A nasty burnt taste ensued with a copious amount of vapor. I turned it down a notch...there it is!! A wonderful caramel flavor with notes of espresso and an ever so slight tobacco taste. The exhale blanked out my computer screen momentarily. I took another inhale expecting that familiar wicking issue and a dry burning taste...no way! Another wonderful caramel flavor and more incredible vapor production. Over and over I repeated this actually trying to push the little green gadget to fail at wicking my juice. Funny thing, it never did! The wicking and flavor production was spot on every time. I repeated the procedure until I was dizzy from nicotine overdose. Hey, sometimes you have to just "man up" and take one for the team!

The throat hit wasn't bad either, but I wouldn't expect excessive throat hit with a caramel/cappucino type juice that really is intended to be a smooth vape.

So far, so good! As of this writing I am two days into the Fluxomizer Deluxe carto from GotVapes, and I have to say thus far I am extremely impressed. If the longevity of this little beast is what I expect it to be, I think it will become a serious part of my daily vaping experience.

Howdy to everyone that may find their way to this blog o' mine. I'm glad you're here!!

The primary purpose for creating this blog is to review some of the glorious offerings that our wonderful vaping supplier community has given up.

I'm sure every one of us has found ourselves chin deep in the various web sites and online stores wondering about this, that or the other gadget beckoning us to come off our credit cards to try their latest and greatest thing for our wonder vapor makers.

From juices and DIY to personal vaporizers, to tanks, carts, and cartos...I'll be telling you what I think of each and every one as I try them. Some may be the latest and greatest. Some may only be new to me.

The test criteria for each offering will be on a basis of importance for me...in other words the things I need and expect out of vaping.

Those things are...in order of importance to me...

1. Throat Hit...it's gotta hit, and hit hard! The last thing I want is to suck in some vapor and blow it back out without feeling anything at all.

2. An extremely close second is Exhalation Vapor Production...I want to see vapor production here folks! The more, the better! If I can see no vapor while vaping outside on a windy day, it aint gonna cut the mustard.

3. The "fiddle factor." The last thing I want to be doing is spending more time "fiddling" or adjusting, refilling, and redoing more than I'm vaping.

4. Taste! I know...I know...taste is such a personal and unquantifiable thing. But by golly if I wanted my blueberry waffle to taste like a burning skunk, I'd still be smoking analogs. Yes, taste is somewhat important to me. It's not nearly what throat hit and vapor production are, but it is important. So, I will likely not be analyzing taste upon the basis of whether or not I like it, but rather whether or not the device I am testing allows the true flavor of the juice to come through. Does it mute the flavor? Does it even allow the flavor to come through? That kind of thing.

5. The shipper or supplier. Of a high degree of importance here is the supplier itself. Nobody wants to have to deal with incorrect orders or shipments that take extended periods of time. Also we'll be looking at ease of use for the web store itself. Is it user friendly? Is it easy to navigate? Are things strewn about all over creation? Being a man, I shop like a man...get in and get out. Does the web store allow that or do I have to hunt through pages and pages of material to find what I need?

6. Cost!! Cost, at first, would appear to be the simplest thing to quantify. Is it expensive? Well, My basis for cost analysis is more of an "is it worth it in the long run?" type situation. For instance, widget A may cost $3.49 while widget B costs $45.00. But if I find widget B lasts for ten years while I have to replace widget A every day or two...the toss goes to widget B. That is, of course overly simplified, but you get the idea I'm sure.

7. Appearance. While of least importance to me, some people really need a PV that looks cool. Some want something that looks exactly like an analog. Others (like me) don't care if they're vaping something that looks like it was built in a dungeoners shop as long as the thng works! I'll be sure to include pictures of each of the test subjects as they appear on my PV, or as sent by the manufacturer/supplier.

So that is the basis of my forthcoming evaluations. Everyone wants and expects different things from their vaping equipment. Hopefully the readers will be able to select from the list what is most important to them and apply it to their next or future purchases.

Vape it up! See ya' next time...
