Understanding the flavors you’re working with and how they interact and enhance 101.

A chocolate recipe and why it works. An example on why other flavors enhance the base flavor.

Chocolate is very hard to get right and it's even harder to find a chocolate flavor that works. With a little work and experimentation you will find that flavors that you think would ordinarily not go good together actually work good to enhance the base flavor.

base 35PG/65VG/12 - 18mg (your choice)
Hangsen Chocolate cream 5%
TFA Hazelnut 2%
Hangsen toffee 1%

Now here's the break down of why this flavor combination works.

The hangsen chocolate cream gives the mix its chocolate base

the hazelnut does not add a hazelnut taste but in fact enhances the chocolate taste.

The toffee does not add a caramel taste but adds a sweeter creamy taste to the chocolate.

The heavy VG base gives a sweeter thickness to the entire mix.

Steep for a week or 3 hours in a UC. Out of this world chocolate vape.

Good luck and happy vaping.

I really appreciate all your post Dannyv45. Thank you for all your effort. I'll have to try this one.

Really enjoy your blog, Danny. Reading the RY4 and Chocolate, I gather the base is the major ingredient in what you want to vape. So in here the Hazelnut and the toffee are considered as the middle or top layer? And do you do the testing with nicotine or without?

I would consider the Hazelnut and the toffee accent notes to enhance the base flavor.

I do test with nicotine. Nicotine is part of the flavor composition.

Actually you are a bit confused. You have the general idea but there is no ry1 in this recipe.
the toffie and hazelnut are not used as notes at all they are used as flavor enhancers for the chocolate taste.

The chocolate cream is the base flavor

the hazelnut is used to enhance the flavor of the base note and bring out the chocolate flavor

The toffie is used to bring out the sweet creamieness of the chocolate.

bookmarking this for the next order I place for flavorings. Thank you, your explanations are great!

I have seen you in the forums raving about adding saline to your mixes.. Do you not add saline to all your recipes?

This sounds delicious but there is no chocolate cream listed at buyhangsen. Where did you get yours?

This was actually written before I started to use saline. Saline would speak to the concentration of the base so anything above 65vg/35pg I add saline or DW. Below that I don't add it. I've recently went back to 50/50 and lowered my NIC to 12mg and now don't use it. It's an individual personal preference more then anything.

Thank you for the recipe. You will know I am new to DYI when I ask how I am supposed to know how much 5, 2, & 1% is
Does that mean the base is 92% ??

How do I measure that? I have a syringe that does show mg and .tsp but not %'s

Help, please. Anyone who knows is welcome to chime in, of course.

Appreciate it,
White Stone

If my mix requires thinning I use saline.
