Tom so far has made 2 custom boxes for me, both VV and both done with the love and caring that only a true "Artisan" can do.
Since this is where he gets his clients from, no better place to give him a hearty "Thank You."
I have written about the main difference between Tom and the "Modfather" Rob from Reos...which to remind anyone who has not read that one... that Rob has a set of items that are made as to what he wants, and is custom beautiful work that stands the test of time (my ReoGrand still working beautifully after almost 2 years).
Tom is new in this business and since my conversation with him where he helped me to overcome my fear of "Electronics" I am thankful on 2 levels, for the work and for how he is as a person.
To any "MonkeyBoxx" person, you already know how wonderful Tom's work has been. Being that I am just a little older than he is, I also have the understanding as to what it takes to do custom work over a long period of time.
I have learned 1 thing and that is: You are remembered for the last thing you have done. Any previous thing goes out the window if you are not there right now!
I am not saying this about anyone in particular, I am talking about business in general. I am in the Real Estate Industry for 26 years now and for almost 4 years, the USA was in terrible shape. Only now am I starting to see signs of recovery, despite what the Politicians have said that we have been in recovery for the past 2 years.
I live 24/7 with my work as it is done out of my home. If I go to an office, it is even worse as I can't spend any time with my beloved Beagle, "Charlie."
So, for all of the jobs Tom Buss has done for people here at ECF, I want to give him applause for what he has done, not for what he is doing or for what he will do in the future. The custom nature of his work must be the most demanding of all using this place as his "Office."
I have learned a lot about ECF in the past couple of years, not writing, but observing. ECF is like a "Family" and that makes Tom a loved Member. I see when people are in pain or need the help of a friend, how an ECF Member or Members talk about helping on a large scale ... and do it with the care that can only be done out of real caring as opposed to "Words."
It is easy to write for me, but hard to write from my heart. I wanted this work here today to be a work from the heart as Tom's work has affected me personally by my conversations, reading the many posts and the 2 boxes he has made for me. When he made them, he sent me a link so that I could see them after the engraving process and then when finalized before it even came to my house! Some may say that he did that for his own "Salesmanship" to get others to get a box, and I say, "No." If he is making a custom box, the person looking at mine may get an idea or 2, but not have the same box as mine. His boxes are like people, all unique and made specially for them ... and that is something to be admired in this life.
Sorry to be "Mushy" as I can be at times. In the USA and maybe in other places in the World, it is still not "OK" for men to have feelings and show them.. especially not to another man. And that is why.. just maybe, here at ECF... due to the level of caring... we have gotten beyond all of that. And.. if I can show emotions here and be sensitive here... here being the World which is where we reach at ECF.. maybe it is "OK" to be this way in the life I lead each day.
