Why does anyone get an "Infraction" here at ECF?

I don't spend all of my time here at ECF, but I have been a Member for over 2 years which is almost as long as I have been vaping. Over this time, I have been on other Sites and angry Ex-Members of ECF sometimes vent their anger on the other sites.

I was brought to ECF tonight by someone who put a "Hyperlink" to a short line they wrote that was deleted here and the thread on the other Site starts with the line they used.

I don't intend to repeat it, but not because it will be edited, but because it is not language that I use in speaking or writing. I don't intend to give this a lot of thought, but did want to share my feelings on the matter.

First, writing is so much different than speaking. When you speak, the words leave your mouth and then it is too late to take it back. In writing, it is so easy to write a word and then say to yourself: "This is not appropriate for where I am, so I will take this out."

It is that simple. After reading the 1 line only that was edited here, I don't even understand what it means. Most likely, some people use quetionable words here to get a "Rise" out of people, even if the words don't make sense, which in this particular case, to me, I did not understand what it meant.

But, over the past couple of years, I have seen this before and I just felt like I would write about it here, rather than at other Sites that have nothing to do with ECF.

So, if writing this "Blog" about questionable language gets a "Rise," let it be to your understanding of where you are. For me, writing is the same no matter where I go as I write for everyone to read. If you feel that it is important to use words that are for certain people to read only, then withold it and use it at an appropriate place, like the other Site the person went to complain.

In vaping, there are so many Sites these days that you can go where you want to say whatever it is you want to say. The only thing I would suggest is not to use words that don't make sense just to say a word that sounds "Bad."

Also, if you are intellingent which are the people I write to, isn't it possible that there is another way you could write that 1 line that was deleted from here that would have remained and not been edited? Again, after reading the line that was edited out completely from ECF, I did not even understand what the line meant. But, it did have a word that represents a part of the body in the back below the belt and above the shorts.

See how I did that? It takes a little extra thought, but what you do is to say what you want by expressing it in a way that is socially acceptable to all.

And, if there is no way to do that, most likely it is not something that you would want to leave for all to see anyway. Writing is an art. To look at posts all over the vaping World, some of which I feel is just plain useless. To those people here and other Sites that use the term "Bump." This is something I had to have explained to me. And what I was told is that it is a way to quickly support something that someone wrote. The question here is: rather than using the same word over and over in a thread, how about being thoughtful and using different words like: "Go, Go, Go." How about "I agree."

But, if after all, you don't have any other thought in your head other than "Bump," go ahead and use it. Just realize that people out there like myself need an interpretor in order to understand it, so your support for that person is weak.

To an old guy like me, "Bump" is the dance that K.C. and the Sunshine Band did in the 1970's. The dance involved 2 or more people hitting their hips together, now that is the real, original "Bump."
