We in the vaping community have a lot of choices. Atomizers, Cartomizers, Tanks, Clearomizers, Different VV/VW mods, not to mention the huge range of e-liquids!
Unfortunately, we do a piss poor job of leading the newbies through the maze of decisions. We are all too focused on our next new thing to try/buy. We need to provide the initiate with a path to a solid satisfying vape.
We need to provide a cheap recommendation, that will give them a damn decent vape, so they can experience what we know to be true; vaping is enjoyable.
Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage just confuse the issue. Choose the right resistance, and there is no need for the complications.
Assuming we want a cheap way to start vaping, I would suggest starting with an eGo pass through, such as this:
Ego 510 Passthrough 3.7 Volt
Knowing that this battery puts out between 3.5v to 3.7 volts, take a look at this chart:

What that means is that we need around a 2.0 ohm coil, for this particular battery. I would suggest something like this:
Smok Tech 2.0 Ohm Black Dual Coil Cartomizer
Add a good quality e-liquid, that gives a nice flavor such as:
Red Oak Tennessee Cured Smoke Juice Johnson Creek Smoke Juice
Now they can get into a good day of vaping, for very little cost.
From here they can upgrade to tanks, and bigger batteries, but they will always have a nice combination to fall back on.
