I went up from 12 mg to 28 mg to see if it might work better for me. Funny thing is, I vaped just as much at 28 as I did at 12. I think I'm more addicted to blowing smoke/vapor than to nicotine.

As an ultra-light smoker in the past, my head was singing on the 28, but the other night, something unexpected happened.. I got the heaves. Now I'm not saying for sure that too much nicotine was responsible, but I'm not known for random acts of spewage, so maybe it was the nicotine?

I've dropped down to 15 mg, and I'm still vaping the same. At 12 mg, I was vaping and thinking about analogs a lot, at 28 mg, I was buzzing and never thinking about them. So maybe 15 mg is my sweet spot. I still get the occasional thought that an analog would go down nice, but it's not so insistent as it was at 12. So 15 is working OK, maybe I'll tweak to 18, but 28.. that was just too high for me.

And if I'd vape 28 before bedtime, I don't even want to start on the crazy detailed dreams. I wonder if too much nicotine does that?

there is definitely a correlation between nicotine and crazy dreams. i have personally experienced this and it's one of the most common symptoms of the patch especially when wearing it at night.
