Interview with Chad from Altsmoke.com

Today we got a special one, an interview with the Engineer of one of the most well known mod's in the history of the vaping community, We have an interview Chad from Altsmoke.com

Hi Chad,

Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview for my readers. Recently
I've been discussing the "old guards" of ecig modification. The one in
particular that I stressed on was the original Silver bullet.

I'm going to ask you only a few questions so I don't take too much of your
precious time away from work. Some of them will be related to altsmoke, and
some will be related to the ecig industry as a whole.

First question: What's your favorite twitter password today? j/k
Years ago when the Silverbullet was put out into the market, was there
any expectation as to how popular it would become, or were you surprised at
how quickly it became a household name in the industry?

Chad- When I initially designed the Silver Bullet, it was intended to be for me and the wife. After Rob at Altsmoke had seen it, he wanted to sell them. At the time I only anticipated doing it as a hobby. I did not expect it to turn into a full time Job. Almost 5 years later, I am surprised that still sells as well as it does.

Altsmoke has always made it known that they are against stacking
batteries. Did it ever frustrate you immensely knowing the device you
engineered was being purchased and used unsafely with stacked CR 123's for
so long?

Chad- Yes, I was very frustrated and vocal about it. I cannot understand why people would continue to use batteries that could not withstand the load they were asking of them. I recall talking about it for hours on some of the forums about why it was so unsafe. Still to this day, I get questions asking if the Silver Bullet is vented. As most know, yes it is vented :)

It goes without saying that the craftsmanship of your mods is amazing,

But if you could choose one mod in the industry lime light right now that
you could compliment in comparison to your craftsmanship, which one would
it be?

Chad- There are so many now, I do not keep up with the industry like I used to. If I had to choose one that I have always admired, I would say the GG line of products.

You've crafted two different types of mods in terms of fire button
positioning. The Omega/Alpha's mechanism is on the top, the Silver bullet
and the BB is a recessed button on the side. Was there ever a moment in the
companies history where there was a design/prototype for a mod with a
bottom firing button?

Chad- Never, I hate bottom buttons :)

Doc and you have the Delorian, and you are able to travel back in time
when you were engineering the first SilverBullet prototype, is there
anything you would have told your previous self to change in the prototype?

Chad- I would have told myself that the Chinese atomizer consistency will suck and to design a rigid insulator for the center pin of the connector. That is being rectified soon :)

Does sub ohming "cloud chasers" scare you as much as those who stacked CR 123's in the original silver bullet?

Chad- Not generally. Normally the “cloud chasers” are more informed of the device and battery limitations. If they over do it, the spring will collapse, disconnecting the circuit.

The truly mechanical Silver Bullet is gorgeous. How do you think it

stacks up with the other popular mechanical mods out there in terms of
craftsmanship and conductivity? Tell us more about it.

Chad- When I look at the other mechanical devices with laser engraving of dragons and such, I generally ignore them. I was told I should have engraved a dragon or the like on mine, it would have made it worth $300 . The craftsmanship is of high level and attention to detail is definitely there. I have always liked simple devices. As far as conductivity, the current trend of bottom button devices allows for a much larger contact surface area. This result in a lower voltage drop under load and will fire the coils to temp a bit faster than a device with less contact surface area. I don’t mind that half second to warm the coil(s).

With the new mechanical SB out now, what's your favorite battery of

choice for it?

Chad- I am currently using the Sony 30 amp battery in mine.

What is Altsmoke's most popular mod being sold right now?

Chad- That would be a question for Rob to answer; I do not have access to the sales numbers for Altsmoke. The cheaper Chinese devices seem to be catching some attention.

How has the government regulations affected Altsmoke? Has it made an

impact on your business yet?

Chad- Not that I am aware. The number of different devices and Chinese clones cuts into my business more than anything.

Finally, what are you vaping on, and what's your favorite e liquid
right now?

Chad- I am vaping on the Silver Bullet Mechanical, running a phoenix v5 @.7 ohms. This month my favorite juice would be Jackson Peaches and Cream. At other times I will use the DK4(RY4) from Madvapes. I like to try different juices from time to time, but find a lot of flavors overwhelming.
