Rambling and various thoughts..

Back when hookah was first emerging onto the US, I went to a hookah joint with my brother, during leave after Basic Training in NYC and I was captivated. When I got to my duty station at Fort Hood, there were a million places where you could get hookah and shisha (hookah tobacco). I ended up buying a hookah pipe and shisha. I started trying to substitute hookah for cigarettes and after a while, it became painful to use. I started talking to owners of the tobacco shops I frequented and some would say it was the PG and some would say it was the VG. I would wreck my lungs less on the VG and so I went that route for a couple of months, using the Hookah less and less..

A deployment and a war later, I could not stomach using the hookah. So it ended up in a box at my friends house and I left it there, in Austin when I came home..

i bring this up because when I first started using an e cig (Blu), I would hack up a lung. It reminded me of the hookah days and was also a factor on chasing me away from e cigs on my first attempt to start.

When I tried e cigs again, this time around, there was no lung hacking. At first I was scared of using PG, because that was what I thought was my problem. So for a good month, all I would order was 100% VG. One day with one of my orders, i think it was from Mt Baker, they had included a Red Cream Soda e juice sample that was 20/80 VG/PG. Now in Texas Big Red soda is like water. Everyone drinks it. I was intrigued because I would grab a Big Red once a week in Texas, which is impossible to find in MA. Kind of like really good BBQ Brisket. (*sigh* I miss Kreuz and Black's BBQ). So caution to the wind, I filled up my Protank and twisted it onto my Provari. I was expecting to get sick, but nope. All I got was juicy Big Red yumminess. I found a better flavor with the mix and good vapor production too. After doing a mass order of 20/80 or 30/70, I must say I haven't been more content.

So what caused the soreness from the hookah? Who can say, maybe it was the super hot burning coals on top of aluminum foil that was causing the problems. Maybe I did not clean the base of my hookah enough or my tubes. Whatever.

I guess my point is, we tend to immediately blame the most visible (or convenient) evil when something bad happens, but there is always an under current or something else that causes the problem, if the problems are isolated. Like, did you hear about the e cig that blew up and burned a kid? What you don't think about is, was the el cheepo unit she was using properly handled or was it in the direct sun for hours? Or did you hear about the guy whose backpack blew up. The guy didn't properly store his batteries and kept them loose in a NYLON bag, which couldn't possibly cause static electricity. :glare: All that matters is that it happened. Get rid of e cigs right? *sigh*

i dunno the point of this, maybe it's just a rant I guess..

I just thought of something. Lets ban all popsicles and lollipops because kids can choke on the stick by chewing on it and it's a hazard.. :p
