A newbie's juice diaries 11/02/2013

I took a break from blogging. No one seems the wiser. I had to put a hold on trying new vendors due to finances and Eddie's fear that I would spend every dime we have. Some things I have learned in the last month:

While I love the clean taste of the Protank 2, I hated the incessant gurgling, leaking and popping. I fiddled with flavor wicks as per advice from the Forum, and I fiddled with pg/vg levels. I also learned that the Protank is not actually wick-less, just bottom feeding and no long silica strings. Eventually I found a combination of these variables that satisfied me and the Protank 2.

I wanted to be able to have more than one flavor loaded in a tank at a time so I could switch throughout the day without the muss and fuss of pouring whatever was in the tank back into the bottle (the Protank 2 works best when full) but I couldn't buy 4 or 5 more PT2's at 20 bucks a pop, and besides, I felt the PT2 was too large for me. So I went in search of the mini pt and found Discount Vapers. There I stumbled on the Smoketech Aro Pyrex encased in metal. PERFECT! Eddie requested I limit the first order to one tank in case it turned out I didn't like them. Needless to say, I LOVED it and bought all 5 colors! So now, I am set with my tanks. We'll talk attys later.

When we last left off, I had not yet received my Ms. T's order and had not yet tried Ahlusion's Tiramisu. My Ms. T's order (placed on 9/13/13) shipped on 10/6/13. Not quite a full month from the date I placed it. When it arrived on the 11th, the box was full of popcorn! Creative way to protect the shipment - and it smelled great too! I also received two fridge magnets and a business card - very cute and a handful of Halloween Candy. Nice touch but I would rather have had a free sample. Especially after waiting a month! I have to say that while all of the flavors were good, none were knock-your-socks off good. I ordered Eclair filling, Almond Toffee Crunch Coffee and Butterscotch Pudding Cake. The Eclair filling tasted like Vanilla custard I order from another vendor, the ATCC tasted like caramel coffee I order from another vendor and I have no memory of what the Butterscotch Pudding Cake tasted like. All produced a nice, thick vapor.

Bottom line for me on Ms. T's is - probably will never order from her again. Her flavors are good - but IMHO not magically delicious. The wait time and customer service is ridiculous - kind of reminds me of the "Soup Nazi" episode of Seinfeld. One wrong move and it's "NO VAPE FOR YOU!" And she refuses to disclose the ingredients in any way, shape or form. You do not know what she is or is not using, and you do not know what the pg/vg ratio is. To me, that is a no-fly zone. I want to know what I am putting in my body so I can make an informed choice. So, sorry Ms. T - I am sure you have enough loyal customers not to miss my biz.

As for Ahlusion's Tiramisu - WOW! Now THAT is what vaping is all about my friends! Not overpowering, but completely full of true-to-its-name flavor. Tons of thick vapor! Since my last post I ordered a 30 ml bottle of it and added 30 ml of Cafe au lait and 30 ml of Maple Dream. This was the staple of my HUGE order week to begin to build my stock up so that some can be steeping while I still have enough ready to vape. The Cafe Au Lait is a delicious coffee flavor that is distinct from others I have tried. Sometimes you find that there are just basic flavors vanilla, chocolate, coffee, etc... and that they all sort of taste alike no matter who sells them or what their supposed to taste like, but I can honestly say that the CAL from Ahlusions has a distinctly different flavor from the Mocha Java Smooth from HHV (which is also a staple for me). I did not care for the Maple Dream for the first two weeks. It is now developing into a complex, thick vapor producing flavor that I am beginning to like. But unless it morphs into something amazing later on, I probably wouldn't order it again. I find that maple/syrup flavors are too perfumey (yep - there's that non-word again) for my liking. But time will tell.

I also placed a second order from Heather's Heavenly Vapes (HHV). Naturally the mouthgasmic Tuscan Cocoa was on the list - 30 ml, in addition to 30 ml of Mocha Java Smooth and HHV BYO Waffles with extra butter, syrup and whipped cream. Both the TC and MJS are living up to the delicious samples I initially tested but again, the byo waffles were a huge disappointment. The fault of my taste buds as everything else from HHV is delicious!

I also ordered a 10ml bottle of White Chocolate Latte from Vixen Vapors and was not impressed, but I think I may have over done it with asking for extra flavors. I will give VV another try. Especially since I have referred friends there and gotten vouchers! Love those loyalty programs!

So because of my need to get a base-stock going, and some necessary equipment purchases (tanks) I didn't place any orders from new vendors this time around. :(

My next endeavor involves rebuilding Aro coil heads and a new battery. I just ordered 32 gauge A1 Kanthal wire, 2mm ekowool silica wick and a chef's torch from ebay to try my hand at rebuilding the million attys I have laying around that aren't cleaning up nice anymore. I have also ordered a 1300 mah VV ego battery from fasttech.

I am so excited though, Eddie has finally decided to buy himself a new set-up. He is getting a 1300 mah battery and new tank so that I can rebuild both of our attys! Well - that is all for this newbie's vaping journey

Vape in peace my friends!:vapor:
