What's your plan with vaping?

My plan was to quit smoking. I did:toast:! I started smoking at the age of 9. One pack every two weeks. By 12, I was up to PAD. For many years, I was 3 PAD, until I had my first heart attack at 26:shock:. Then I cut down to PAD and stayed there, (except when I drank, or got over stressed). At 43, I had over a dozen heart attacks, in one year. I was in the hospital having stints put in, with 3 nicotine patches on, and still sneaked out for a smoke:evil:. Often I would have to take a nitro tablet when I lit up. :danger:My cardiologist informed me that nicotine constricts the blood vessels. I hated my morning ritual. Every day, I would cough, hack, and spit repeatedly for about an hour, with a couple of nose blows, and a couple of cigarettes in between. I had an aunt, and a step-mother, who smoked 3-5 PAD. Both died of lung cancer. Like them, I knew smoking was killing me, but I could not stop:smokie:. I tried everything. Or so I thought. My sister got a cheap gas station analog look alike, and let me try it. I was underwhelmed. A friend with a similar nicotine addiction, also tried them. He couldn't get through an 8 hr. day at work, with only a few cigarette breaks. He got an ego kit to use at work, all day. He assured me that it was better. I went to a local B&M store, where I was allowed to sit in a comfortable environment, and try out different flavors, for over an hour:vapor:. I bought my last pack of cigarettes on 1 Mar., 2013. That same day, I got an ego starter kit, with several bottles of juice, and a spare tank. The staff recommended I start with 24 mg. of nicotine. I wanted to be sure to satisfy the urge, so I got 36 mg. of nicotine. Big mistake! I came very close to taking a nitro tablet. I immediately got some 18 mg. juice to dilute my 36 mgs. down to 24. After one week, I bought 18 mgs. and 24 mgs. to get a 21 mg. mix. I may or may not lower it to 18. Right now I'm happy with 21. It's only been one month, but WOW! What a difference. I still cough, hack, and spit, once or twice in the morning, but not for an hour. I can breath! I can taste food! My B&M store is on the second floor. I run up the stairs to get my juice. Who knew I could still run.:rickroll:
Smoking was bad for my heart and lungs. One of those is no longer an issue. So what about the other? All of my heart attacks where related to one or more of the following: Over exertion, Stress, Smoking too much, (when drinking or over stressed), and/or depression. (I corrected my diet over a decade ago). The over exertion was closely tied to shortness of breath. (This included sex, the lack of which added to depression:cry:, and didn't help with the stress either:-x). The only real concern, is the amount of nicotine I use, in a short period of time. I was a chain smoker, and now I am a chain vaper. It never occurred to me before, to count the number of puffs on a cigarette. It's 20+ for a 100. I smoked more than one cigarette per hour. I vape 2 or 3 puffs every 10 or 15 min. I don't know how they compare, in the amount of nicotine consumed in a 24 hr. period. I do know I feel better every day. I quit smoking! I don't care if I never quit vaping.:vapor: I can live with that. Let me re-phrase that. With that...I can live!

Thanks for sharing. I too had a heart attack and kept right on doing what I was doing. I tried my first e-cig on 12/29/2012 and haven't looked back since. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations!! : ) I was a pack a day smoker for 33 years and I too watched family members die slow, painful, smoking-related deaths, but just could not find a way to stop!! I also suffer from depression and when I would quit my depression just got worse and worse! It's been over a year now for me and I have not looked back!! This is such a Miracle! I too don't intend to stop vaping. THIS is a habit I can live with!!
