The Zmax 1

I've been giving the Zmax some good solid use and it works well. (Pics at the end of the post.) I've used cartomizers and Vision vivi novas on it fine. It does have a slightly long firing time - you push the button and it fires for a second after release. Mine is chrome and pretty sturdy. Some people complained about them wobbling when trying to stand them up due to rounded end caps. Mine has a flat cap and stands up fine.

The power is consistent. The reading for actual battery voltage is spot on - have measured this several times. Also spot on or very close measuring ohms resistance on attachments.

LED display nice. The menu looks confusing but isn't after ten minutes.

A number of people tested the Zmax on accuracy for set output watts or volts - it isn't accurate in terms of the displayed setting being the same as the actual output. This isn't a problem if you think of it as a low to high device and just set it where you like it. Mine has no problem when I switch from one resistance to another. It doesn't suit low ohms though - ideally an atomizer, cartomizer or tank at 2.4 ohms or above is best I find.

The chrome finish on mine is looks great. I purchased it from Mad Vapes and it has extra vent slots on the sides. I didn't know if I'd like these aesthetically but they seem to enhance the look with the red from the AW IMR battery showing through. I use the single 18650 option.

Having said all that - version 2 is already out. Version 2 has an added 8th menu with RMS - so when you set say, 8 watts, you get 8 watts, not 11 watts like version 1. Although the number accuracy isn't a big deal to me, I've ordered a version 2. I picked one up in stainless steel for $100 from electronic-cigz.com (they had a 20% discount going for Halloween). I also got a 6 month warranty on my version. Been a few people who have already tested for accuracy and it is very accurate on voltage and wattage. Also the firing time is shorter apparently - one reviewer said it fires for 0.25 seconds after releasing the button. At the price I got its a good second variable wattage device.

My recommendation would be to keep an eye on the version 2. The Zmax version 1 may be available cheaper now that the version 2 is out, but the version 2 is already getting reviews as the better device. I'll let you know once I get mine.

I can see a possible problem for some newer vapers with version 1 - it has a learning curve. People using the variable voltage option will find it hits a lot higher than they expected due to the inaccurate settings. With the test results in so far on version 2 that problem appears be out of the way.

What I like about Zmax is that it has variable voltage and variable wattage. Variable wattage is great to vape with. The Zmax puts out great power consistently.
