Finding my perfect Vape!!.....Long story so get some juice!!....LOL

So thought I would write this blog to see if there is anyone out there that can relate and to describe the transitions i took to get where i am today. I see alot of people on ECF or in public that jump right into APVs, rebuilding and subohming. With this comes alot of mistakes and injury since there is alot of electronics and power involved.

So here I go……I started vaping around the summer of 2010. My friend and I bought a BLU starter kit which included two auto batteries and some cartridges. Well after about 1 month I started think about how this system worked. All it had was a warming element and a cartridge with juice in it that was covered in foil. When you put the cart on, the foil was punctured as it was placed on warming element (Atty). I started to think instead of buying carts every so often I could just put my own juice in it. So there i started my rebuilding….LOL. I would pull the little cups from the cart and put some juice in it and fill with a mesh to allow the juice to wick and not leak. This worked for awhile and after another month I ventured onto another system. As this was a auto battery I didn’t like how it would come on in my pocket and I didn’t want juice falling into the battery.

So then came the 510 batteries 3 months later. I purchased a little kit that came with two of these which were manual and it also came with a portable charger just like the BLU did. These were cool as they had various attachments with different styles and colors. I got the simple 510 atomizers and cartridges. Well, as these came pretty much built I didn’t like them so started to read on ECF that rebuilding these things can be much better. So from the cotton builds to the mesh filter stuff I started to do this. Did this for quite some time although leakage was an issue if done wrong and not perfect. Filling these were a hassle as I had to put the mesh inside the carto and fill with a needle through the mesh. Then came the almighty “spring mod”. Where you put a spring from a pen in the mesh so when it pressed against the atomizer it would wick the juice better. This works half the time and making a mess.

So with the mess going on, this is when I first starting dripping around the spring of 2011. Dripping directly on the 510 atomizer was great. The flavor was outstanding and the vapor was good. Only thing was I had to carry a bottle of juice with me and had to drip a couple drops every time I wanted to take a puff. I got really good at dripping while driving although this is totally wrong.

About a year later I ventured onto EGO style batteries. These lasted a lot longer and they came with a different type of carto. It was a plastic carto similar to the 510 ones but it had a rubber gasket on the end with a small hole. When pressed against the atomizer it would open the hole up around the heating elements allowing juice to flow into atomizer. Well this was great but still wasn’t vaping like i wanted it to. So then came some more rebuilding. Making the hole bigger was great but again it leaked half the time and became a messy hassle.

Couple months later I saw the EGO Tanks that had made its debut. It was a plastic tank that got pushed on the atomizer which had a sharp spear looking object. It would puncture the plastic tank and wick juice from the tank though the spear object and onto the element. This sucked……it wouldn’t wick right so I started to take a needle and loosen up the wick inside the spear thing inside. Although this worked it only worked half the time……you had to loosen the wick just right. If you loosened it up too much leakage was everywhere.

Few months later I deployed to Afghanistan for 12 months. I took my gear and just dripped the whole time. I did get back on analogs while i was there but only when I was out on a mission. It was so much easier to smoke a cigarette then to mess with the tanks and what not while on mission though the mountains and deserts. Well when i returned in the winter of 2012 I ventured into MODS.

This is when I started to find my perfect device. Got a cheap VV MOD from a vendor I shopped with a lot and got it with 510 cartomizer tanks. These things sucked in my opinion. The holes were not punched out big enough for the juice and i gave up on those in a heartbeat.

Spring of 2013 I started messing with clearomizers and EGO VV batteries. First ones I got was the iClear 16s which sucked but immediately got me some evods and pro tanks These things were awesome I said to myself. It hold a good amount of liquid and the wick and coil and juice are all enclosed. It was great!! I started to read about how people were rebuilding these things so a few months later I started rebuilding the EVODs and Protanks.

This is when i started to rebuild things that would start my experience in building coils. After a few weeks I found my sweet spot on these coils. I was making 4/5 wrap 1.4 ohm coils like clockwork now. they were great. Best vapor I ever had and the flavor was off the chain!. Kept reading online and keeping up with the newest trends and found out about micro coils. I gave this a try and was making 10 wrap coils like a champ on the pro tanks which is the only thing I was using at the time.

Around this time I got myself a VAMO MOD and it did everything i wanted to. I was adjusting wattage like there was no tomorrow. Using a 1.5 ohm micro coil at 14 watts was the best I had with this setup. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better I got introduced to cotton. This was the holy grail. Why didn’t I think of this before….LOL. This setup kept me going for quite some time.

But i wanted more!!…..So i bought my first RBA around June 2013. Got a mini RDA and AGA-T. Used some mesh on this bad boy and did a 5 wrap coil on it and wow it was nice too. Only thing I didn’t like about it was that I had to tilt it to get a good vape. Used it at home only but when i was on the go i turned to my VAMO and rebuilt pro tanks.

At this time I ran into cable wicks….never heard of anyone using this in pro tanks but i gave it a try and it worked…..it was better than ever…..notice it always gets better but never where I want it to be.

By this time I had been reading so much about REOS. All these reonauts saying how their REO is so great and they will never touch another APV again. I saw the price and was like no way. Months went by and I kept reading all this stuff about REOs. REOs this and REOs that.

Well in SEP 2013 I got my first REO. I got a VV Grand and made me a micro coil around 1.2 ohms. I took a vape off this thing and OH MY GOOOOOODDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!…….What have I been missing this whole time? Why hadn’t I got this a long time ago? WHY WHY WHY…..HOW COULD SOMETHING SO GOOD BE MISSED FOR SO LONG!!!!!!!!……….

Well all that talk I had read about REOs came true to me. Its my ultimate device. The only device I use. I even got another one which was not VV and I use a .6 ohm coil on there to cloud chase. I have all the clouds I want now. I mean I don’t think I could get more clouds without a fogger machine……LOL.

So now I am happy and vaping like a kid in a candy store. So if you are reading this and you don’t have a REO…..well this is another write up about how GREAT these MODS are. You will see one day and you will also be thinking what I have written in this blog.

Now Im left with all these past experiments and gear that I don’t use…..But i still like to tinker with it and help my friends that still use alot of this stuff.

Thanks for reading and Happy Vaping!!!!

thanks.....i figured alot of people would have similar experiences in drifting from one thing to another in this crazy world of vaping!!!!

Great blog. I had very, VERY similar experiences from mall kiosk piece of crap in the summer of 2010 to the little 510s with the cartridges (blue foam and pen spring mods) then eGo set-ups galore....then finally the REO. I've had my REOs for almost 3 years now (3 years in January,) and will never need another device. The rebuildable attys have taken my REOs to the ultimate level. See you on the forum, Krazirob.
