How I Make My coils pg 4 (Endgame)

All right, right now we should have a decent but loose coil. We need to get this thing tight with no gaps in between the loops.

Go ahead and pinch the coil with your forceps, you only want to use enough force to squish the gaps out. Also be mindful of the beginning and ending loops, the ones that end in the legs. Sometimes they have a tendency to roll over the top of the coil next to them. We don't want any loops on top of each other.

And now the magic begins, we are now going to heat and rapidly cool the coil. We are hardening it, we want it to retain it's now compressed shape. There is no magic number for how many times you do this. Normally for 30g and lower I do the heat/quench cycle three times and for smaller gauges, I only do it twice.
Go ahead and heat the coil up to cherry red, this will take a minute because the forceps will act as a heat sink.

Once your coil is glowing cherry red, quickly dunk it in the water to cool it off.

Rinse and repeat. For this coil I went through the hardening proses three times.

Before you release the coil, go ahead and bend the legs into the position you will need them for your device. This way you don't risk bending any gaps into your coil.

Now finish your beer, open another and stand back and admire the magnificence you have just created.

Go ahead and install your coil. You will probably need to "pulse" the coil a few times to get it heating evenly. Pulsing is nothing more then mashing the button till the coil glows red. Do this three or four times and everything should be humming along. When everything is rite in the world your coil will heat from the middle out, i.e. the middle will grow red and it will quickly spread to the the ends. Once you have a wick in it and some juice on it, the coil will heat completely across the length simotanisoly. The wet wick evens it out.(I think)
So there you have it. How I wrap my coils.

I haven't run into any issues wrapping this way for devices that require no-resistance wire. I just pay attention to the wire joint and don't put any undo stress on it.

A quick note on cotton wicks. I primarily use cotton, it's extremely easy to use as a wick with these coils. I get more flavor and throat hit from cotton then I do from any of the silica derivatives. The down sides to cotton, if you dry hit it, it will burn and you will be sorry, it tastes awful. It gunks up quicker then most types of silica. You can't dry burn it, you have to replace it.
I vape dark tobacco juices so I have to clean my coil every other tank or so. I just pull the device apart, pull the old wick out, dry burn and then put a new wick in. I use sterile organic face pads, I just pull a piece off the pad, roll between my fingers till it just slides into the coil, trim the ends and voila. It probably takes longer to read this, then it does to do it.

Good Luck! And vape the piss out of it!:vapor:
