Lavatube Reviews

So i'm using a ProVari b4 i got my lavatube.
Heres a mini review on lavatube after 1 week of usage.

Update: Theres a version 2 out there. Identified by Black voltage changing button and Red power button (not shiny coated). There are some changes as indicated below. (no changes to functionality)

Aesthetics.
The looks and feels of it is not as solid as provari. it is a lot lighter than provari as it is aluminium body. Still quite solid just not as good.

The body is matt black. just not sure what it is coated with untill it starts to wear off which hasn't up till date.

It is also longer as it uses a 18650 flat top battery. a 18650 with nipple wouldn't fit in properly so make sure u get the flat top ones.

4 buttons. 2 for voltage changing silver in color, 1 for master on/off red in color and 1 activation button black in color.
I would say its more convenient this way just doesn't look as tidy as provari with only 1 button.

The red paint on the master on off switch is starting to come off, as well as the one on the voltage change button. both paint started to fade at the edge of the buttons. EDIT: Version 2 has this fixed. The buttons are solid color rather than shiny coated.

The activation switch is clicky and actually feels good to press. however, it is not as sensitive so if u press too light which i did, u will feel the click but it doesn't activate. just apply a tiny wee bit more strength and it will activate.

The battery end cap doesn't screw in smoothly. its quite rough in fact but just apply a lil lubricant like vaseline or something and it'll be fine.

Also on the battery end cap, there is no vent hole. actually, there is a hole at the bottom but that hole doesn't go all the way through lol. EDIT: Version 2 has a true vent hole.

It is a 510 connection so looking for parts for it wouldn't be a problem.

The connector however isn't perpendicularly straight. It is slightly slanted but not very obvious. I fit my arry tank on it which is why i noticed the slanting. Not a very big deal though cuz it is only like say 0.5 to 1degree off center.
EDIT: Version 2 has this fixed. The connector is now straight.

Also, the connector isn't flushed to the top of the body so it protrudes a little like 1mm or so. You will see a gap between the top of the body and ur atty which in my case is the arry tank.

There is a juice well at the top as with provari and the juice well works pretty good. i once accidently flooded my arry tank and the well holds the juice and prevented it from flowling down the side of the body. Of cuz this depends on how much it is flooded but for me, i realised it quick enough when i vaped and heard the gurgling sounds but it was quite a major flooding as the juice well were all full. =x

Overall i would give a 6/10 on the aesthetics of it.
Edit: 8/10 for version 2.

Functionality.
I have since used a lr 510 carto, a standard 510 atty, a standard clearo and a arry tank (with standard ce2 core) for "testing" Also all the functions have been tested and working perfectly except for vaping at 6v. Read below for further details.

List of functions so far are:
voltage changing by 0.1v increment/decrement from 3.0v to 6.0v loop back using the silver buttons
voltage locking/unlocking by pressing and holding both the silver buttons simultaneously
master on/off turns ur device on or off by holding it
pressing the master on/off switch 7 times to show batt life. 3.3 = time to charge.
LED display flashes before batteries dies so time to swap battery

First to note is that unlike the provari, lavatube doesn't have resistance checking function.

Voltage changing has so far not been an issue. there is difference between the voltages meaning the vv works.

However, an important note is that u will never get to vape true 6v etc. Explanation below.

On a LR 1.5ohm carto highest output is 3.4v +/- even if u set it to 6v.
On standard resistance, highest output is 5.3v +/- also set to 6v.

Reason being there is a built-in safety system that doesn't allow u to vape with too high a watts. So instead of throwing u an error message like provari does (which u cannot vape unless u change the voltage), lavatube allows u to continue vaping but it "auto" sets the voltage down for u to a "safety level" i.e. 3.4v for 1.5ohm etc. but the display will still show 6v if u set it to 6v.

This would also prevent the device from shorting out or atty from burning out, just that u can't vape true 6v unless u get a higher resistance atty.

Vapor production, throat hit etc are mainly dependent on ur juice and voltage and ohm. So far it is good for me on my sweet spot of 4.5v on a 3.0ohm ce2 arry tank mod with 16mg green apple menthol 50pg/50vg. lots of vapor, sweet and cooling vape.

Also to note there is no light for the switch so theres no lights on/off function.

And the battery life on it is outstanding. i haven't change the battery for 6days of vaping untill today due to the fact that i'll be out for an all-nighter and the displays reads 3.6 using the battery life function. so i rather change than have it die halfway lol. YMMV of cuz!

So overall, i'll give it 9/10 for functionality (i'm not a big fan of 6v vaping so this works for me)
