Everyone remembers Dolly The cloned sheep and the disturbances that rippled through the world as to men playing god when it came to proliferation of life.
But what about cloning E-cig Products? Where does it start, stop and begin?

Looking around at all that has come out for the E-cig world this industry is exploding. People around the world are taking interest and noticing what a great thing we have going on and I am proud to be a part of it. One thing that in my own personal opinion is shaming our industry to an extent that it surpasses words and thoughts past the imaginable reaches. While the saying, "immitation is the highest form of flattery." may hold true, flattery isnt what you feel when someone took your idea, your creation and your innovation to the next level by straight up ripping off your design. The trend seems to be that creating a coop for copy cat designs and destroying a business in the process.
The handful of instances recent which come to mind would have to be MMvapors The DiD atomizer http://mmvapors.com/ Now these guys were the creators of the DiD atomizer and while the genesis atomizer is not their design the did so in a way which had not been done before. Now a days genesis atomizers are EVERYWHERE. One can be had for as little as $20. The higher end units can sell for as much as $250.
The most recent has been Imeo which has recieved a good old kick to the chops with the introduction of knock off telescoping GG knock offs and Odysseus clones. I know some say they have ceased production of the odysseus so who cares? Well there might be a reason that you should.

Cloning can level playing feilds and knock down exhaustively high pricing models and force manufacturers and designers to reconsider pricing and company structure but as we have seen in the case of the DID , They destroyed this companies market. MMvapors went through the process of creating, designing and retailing a highly desirable product (kudos MM, I appluad you) But when the first knockoffs arrived in town I am 100% sure that more than half of mmvapors potential client base fell off. If you see a real did (not a knockoff going by the sardonic names chid, dud or chud) people just arent seeing a return on investment in terms of appreciable resale. In the classifieds these products are one of those items that you would be better off holding onto rather than selling just because of the price hit you take on resale. When the original product sold for $100 plus overseas shipping for those of us in the US it was a hard nut to swallow. The coops that ran for the DiD clone ran for a mere $7 each. Even if you were to argue that the original is of much higher quality ( I cant disagree ) It is hard to rationalize spending nearly $120 for an atomizer when you can have 16 units of the cheaper knockoffs for the price of one original. How can you rationalize the longevity of 1 device versus 16? These numbers may be skewed a bit as My intent is not to be 100% financially accurate but more to describe the desparity and injustice that exist to legitimate business vs clones coming in from overseas.
I dont think this will change as the practice is too widely accepted and the benefit too great for the majority of consumers to ignore.
Oddly I think this how the US became a nation of consumers rather than a nation of builders. Patriotism and patronage of patriotism are all but nice thoughts. A day in a by gone era.

If we won't invest in a moral cause and sellout to the lowest bidder hw do we expect to see things we like survive? How do we expect people to share, be compassionate and mindful if we ourselves are not divisive and steadfast in pursuit of morality? Who are we anymore and what would we think of ourselves for supporting the acts which encourage companies to continue unethical practices which have become so damaging to companies who have served us so very well.
Is this really the direction we want to go? Is this really how you want to see yourself and know you helped do this to a pioneering company? I am ashamed to say I am part of this problem. I participate in clone co'oping.

I am thinking something's got to change and E-cig users are the only ones to make the difference. You and I , the consumers.

The vaping world is seeming to lean toward this "new technology" It's not really new and it isnt really that advanced. What it is, is different and "user serviceable".

For those new to genesis atties or if this is the first time you are hearing of it, Genesis atties are a way of vaporizing juice. Essentially you have a juice vessel and an oxidized stainless steel wick. The Juice vessel is the bottom of the atomizer. The wick extends down through the top with the lower portion saturated in your juice. The wick is nothing more than SS mesh which has been heated to cause it to oxidize to prevent it from being a conductor. The which draws juice up from the vessel through capillary action as well as is helped by sometimes tilting or the negative pressure caused by drawing on the top of the atty as the user takes a drag. Capillary action can be summed up by the natural occurence of liquid climbing to saturate something even though nothing is available to supply lift to the liquid. This can be demonstrated by placing a sack of flour in a shallow pan and pouring water into the pan. You will notice the water being drawn into the flour far above the water line in your pan. This is a perfect example of how capillary actions and the genesis wick work.

The wick is in turn heated by either kanthal or nichrome heating (resistance) wire to vaporize the liquid in the stainless steel mesh. This is by definition a genesis atomizer.

The significant value in this atomizer from most accounts is :

- Cleaner taste of liquid as no fabric is used as a carrier device.

- Rebuidable with common materials which are readily avilable in raw form.

- User tweakable. If you like a hotter or cooler vape you adjust the ohm rating of the coil rather than adjusting the voltage

The appeal to all of this is that the atomizer is very cheap to rebuild and maintain. The juice has a more natural taste as it does not get stifled by batting or wicking material found in cartomizers.

The down sides:

- Wicks must be hand rolled and oxidized by the user. At the current time no manufacturers offer pre-rolled and oxidized wicks for purchase unless you own a APV they developed (See: House of Hybrids Zenesis)

- Kanthal and nichrome must be wrapped around the wick and fastened by the user at the time of service. It is not a open the package and go type solution.

- These atties are not user friendly. Getting proficient with rebuilding this style of atomizer takes time and experience. User must know their devices, their principles and be willing to attempt to fiddle with their atties when rebuilt for the first time.

- Lacking availability. Most genesis style atties are difficult to get. The demand is high for this new style of atomizer and they are increasingly difficult to get as more and more users become aware of the style of device. There is more on this we will talk about below.

The atty does present a unique advantage in that is ever there was a shortage of atomizer or cartomizers for instance say if the FDA held shipments of ecig goods, genesis users would enjoy not being bothered by the lack of equipment.

Why hasn't this product taken off like a wildfire NewQ? Well there are several reasons in addition to the onces mentioned about. The original inventor of the genesis style atomizer released the design to the Ecig community to benefit all with the caveat that no manufacturer could use it for the purposes of making a profit. Well if i cant make a profit building these , why would I sell it ?

Many manufacturers have decided to ignore the warning originally posted with this atty design and for good reason. Releasing a product to the community without having a viable channel to obtain these atties from is essential to its existance. What good is a design if no one is willing to make it , regardless of the designs benefit.

This could turn out to be very damaging if the creator ever decides to collect on royalties for infringment. However i would hope that in light of his generousity to the community that he understand his ingenuinty is worthless to the majority of us, unless we can get someone to make it for us. All things being equal , most people dont know how to use a metal lathe much less use one.

Until the genesis atty becomes more popular and someone starts mass producing them, the majority of us will have to rely on being very lucky, being in the right place at the right time.

Finally got all my extraneous stuff out of my Ecig mod collection. I found the mods that I want in my collection and sold everything else. Got rid of My buzz, Diamante,Silver bullet, and Icon.

I found I was gaining a larger collection of batteries and mods which isnt bad, who could ever have enough toys right? Well the idea of backups for backups had grown into a mire of mods with different sized batteries and some of which I wouldnt ever use unless I had nothing else. I neglected the principle of using the same supplies for all of my mods and became spread across 3 different battery type. At one point i had 6 different battery type and am glad the number is now down to just one. 18350 is nice because it packs a punch, good holding power and a small size. 18650 is great for the long haul but sometimes a long mod just isn't appropriate for a formal event or for a inconspicous social outing.

I now have only a provari mini in my collection and plan to add a second as a backup along with a Zen mini on the way. All of them tak 18350 batts. So it does keep inline with my goal of consolidating.

Perhaps it was just a good excuse to make room for new toys :D

Either way the vaping is good.

As I move through my journey vaping away, I have sought after many pv's and been through a good number. I have used Elipse ovale,Lavatubes,Buzz OG, Buzz Pro, Vmods,Evo's,Diamante's, Icons,Silver bullets and Provari's so far for mods.

I have used smoketech Cartos,Boge LR and Sr's and some dripper atties and a genesis atty and realize one thing. Through all this trying to accomplish the one thing everyone on ECF is after..... A perfect trouble free setup with long vape times, minimal footprint and ease of use.

Some mods were too big, some didnt perform in a desired fashion and some leaked. Some never were given the opportunity to become my mainstays simply because there was better out there or in my collection.

Lets face it vaping is EXSPENSIVE. Dont run away with this BS of vaping being less exspensive. If you are the type of person that i am where you are always looking at the next best thing and always look for better you will LOSE more money than if you smoked.

You have to be sure why you are quitting smoking and why you take up vaping. Quite often I see people say how they are gonna save all this money and this and that. No, you arent. Even if you only buy juice and cartos after your initial pv purchase there is always, batteries, tanks, drip tips and backup accessorires. It just always pans out that way.

Quit because you need to do so for your health and for the longevity your desire for those you would leave behind. Life is short. Do all you can to protect your time on this earth. Someday and maybe not today but someday you will find a fitting reason to want to stay here.

Life is complex and the saying "life happens" is an understatement. Life moves so fast once you have a family that sometimes it looks like a good place to be , swinging on the front porch with ma and pa kettle. Trust me life happens.

Well 4 Almost 4 months in and still going strong without a single stinky. Atleast by this point I almost neve pat my pockets during the day looking for a cigarette. I still find myself walking by someone smoking and the smell of the cigarette smells incredible. A few times I have been tempted by this smell to ask for one but, instead puffed away on my E-cig until I fealt as though i would pass out if i puffed anymore. I have had a co-worker who is quitting a dip habbit and we have shared the back and foruth struggle of quitting and he has used NRT as his way out. I am still puffing away. He asks me how my quitting is going and I always answer him fine and we usually discuss the ins and outs of it but really, i am not sure that I am ready to quit vaping. I have been stepping down the Nic level. I started at 18-24mg juice and now I use 12mg having stepped slowly from 24-18 to 18 to 16 and then to 12. I enjoyed smoking nad now enjoy vaping. I dont know if or when I will quit. I feel ashamed at times that i should do more to step down. Personally I concel the fact that I dont care if i ever quit vaping. I enjoy it nearly as much as I did smoking. In my eyes it is still enough that I am concerning myself with the health hazards of smoking and making a healthier choice. In time I plan to continue to back off the nic level. But thats not today. It's for another day. When I damned good and ready to do so.
