There is a learning curve to getting the DID if you read through this thread you will find all kinds of mesh oxidizing tips. The shorts are operator error and not device. The air inlet hole is pretty standard. It is an easier draw than cartos and the draw is very quick to get used to. Many of us have drilled our holes even bigger.
About the ceramic wick.....I purchased some to try. The wick sheds fibers like crazy, the fibers are fiberglass and embed themselves in your skin just setting the thing up. I decided not to vape anything that sheds fiberglass fibers. Stick with silica wick if you want an alternative to mesh. Of course you can use cotton or bamboo if you please as well.[/QUO

Learning curve? Operator error not the device? I can not believe I'm reading this. Ceramic with fiber glass? Ways to oxidize ss wire mesh? Air inlet is ok on the DID? What's is good for the geese may not be good for the gander, overal. Am I abnormal that does not belong to the "many"? True ceramics don't have fiber glass. Overall, this DID really reminds me of the popular Prodigy V2 that was plagued with pushbutton switch problems. This DID reminds me of my Austin Heally 3000 sports car that I had to constantly adjust the carburators on every street blocks. I really believe the DID has a serious problem. It is so antiquated in the design as far as wicking. SS wire mesh wicking is a very old thing, older than the oldest people alive. It works good if you don't mix it with electrical current. I just wanna vape. I don't have the time to be fiddling with it constantly. This DID is so unreliable and embarassing to show to my friends. It is like a an atomizer with manic depression, epileptic seizure, ashma attacks, etc. I do not recommend this unit at all. Since I am on this, I would like to comment on some vapers' thinking that the ProVary does not like the DID. Well, at least ProVari and I are in agreements, lol.. I think I know why ProVari does not always work on the DID. The heating coil on the DID are randomly arcing on the wire mesh once the wick begins to dry up. It looks like a sputtering neon light and if you insist on leaving the sw "on" much longer, then you see a melt down, usually on the + post end of the coil. The ProVari could sense these series of shorts and gives a "short" code. The Zmax does not care, go for it dude. If you measure the quiescent resistance of the DID, the shorts may or may not register on the ohmmeter. Like I said, I watched this arcing on my DID myself. My assessment of the DID still remains thesame, it is one of the biggest failure and blunder in the e-cig mod world. My advice to whoever is contemplating in getting a DID is this: You've been warned.
